lol thanks.
i just finished setting up the esc and the radio and 'bench' tested it on the carpet with no shocks (dragging the belly)
it took a couple times nailing the throttle to realize it leaves burnout marks on carpet...

i sure hope i can get them out.
its gonna be pretty quick. lipo is THE stuff...
holding my worlds runner in one hand with a 6cell nimh pack and this tuber in the other with the lipo i cant tell a difference in weight.
i just wish the damn protech bodies were still available.

One of the best looking RC10 I've ever seen Hoopty, I'm jaleous to be honest
I recently ordered some Reedy KR motors from Associated Electrics on Ebay (they are really cheap!!!) and here's what I've been answered concerning the Protech bodies...
" I just checked and we have none of the Protech bodies in stock. However, some bodies may be made again (two Protech bodies are listed in the bodies section of the web site at
http://www.rc10.com/misc/database/db_bodies.htm).
The company hasn't determined whether or which old bodies to continue making. I don't know when the powers-that-be will make a decision. Sorry for a vague answer! "

Team Associated

omg... the lexan on this is gonna end me...
i coulda just cheesed out and kept my original trim job using one lid and be done, but noooooooooo... i gotta try something fancy...
if everything on the tuber and the bodies were symmetrical, this wouldnt be nearly as hard. also if i didnt have to worry about ruining a now rare ae body...
the tuber is actually more symmetrical than the damn bodies, and it looks like there are slight variants to the protech 1's... i've trimmed away the evidence, but it seemed like the flared out section around the rear shock tower was different on the couple bodies i trimmed. but then again maybe thats because i've been up all night studying lines and curves, measuring twice and cutting once, then wishing i had measured one last time, or cutting on the wrong damn side of the sharpie line... lol.
one thing that always sucked about ae bodies were that they are so freaking thin at the bottom. that aint right.
i had to make a couple design compromises due to making little mistakes here and there, but overall i did pretty damn good considering i was using pre-trimmed bodies. i still dont know how its going to turn out. its got 4 different sections that are all multi-paneled.
but now that i've went through it, i could do it over again pretty decent with just 2 bodies. if somebody repros bodies or whatever i'll definitely re-do it again.
what color do you think would look better? full white or full silver?
i'm gonna go crash for a couple hours so i dont cut a finger off, then hit this hard again.

wow, talk about a jigsaw puzzle! and i thought painting an edm body with a 3 piece roof and a 3 piece hood was a pain. thats gonna look awesome when its done, good luck with all that.

here i am spamming my own stuff again...
i'm getting so ocd on this damn body its driving me insane. i've made a couple slight miscalculations when measuring or cutting that i had to later make compromises on, but overall its gonna be pretty killer.
i did take it to work today, and i ran it for the first time up and down the hallway. its very fast. it sounds like a skillsaw....
so i'm really gonna try and get it painted this weekend and post pics.
i've been thinking white with silver and black trim/accents for the body. but all silver would be kinda neat maybe...

i fell in love with recently the mirror chrome paint thats out there that when sprayed on lexan looks like a mirror chromed finish with reflections and all, back it with black and it looks like a deep chrome finish, really nice.

that sounds really cool, but the lexan i'm using isnt at all the kind to be getting chromed. its pretty much 3 different scrap bodies i pieced together.
i think i'm gonna do it up white, with the bottom of the side pods silver. just real simple... besides, its gonna get stickers and stuff.
or just all silver? maybe with white and black trim?

well with the mirror chrome it doesnt matter what you spray it on as long as its clear and it will come out perfect chrome, spazstix.com has it, expensive but nice.
i have a vinyl cutting machine too if you ever need vinyl cut out, i have some gold and silver leaf vinyl left that can be cut however you want, just send me a illustrator or eps file or even a jpg and i can convert it and cut out any shape/color.
as far as scheme, i like silver/chrome and black, i painted a few b4 buggy bodies like that and they just look evily clean and beautiful. spazstix makes a nice black paint too that is just blacker and shinier than any black that pactra/faskolor has, just true black black, hard to explain.
on the airbrush forums once they said to mix like 1/2 mirror chrome and 1/2 of the spaz stix black paint, and you get a "dirty oil pan" finish, where its like a black chrome that looks like a reflection in a dirty oil pan, really sharp and totally unique.

i didnt build the chassis, a guy who welds up tuber scale crawlers did it for me. hulk from rccrawler.com.
dont get me wrong, putting one together and making everything work takes alot of time and talent as well, but i cant take credit for mig welding the steel rod.

I think we need to make some fake chassis's, so that the rest of us won't be jealous.

sticker shock...
is it just me or does anybody else put a boatload of stickers on his car, only to peel them off shortly afterwards?
now that i've painted it, the body didnt turn out as crappy as i thought it would. far from perfect, but not bad for me... now that bodies are available again and better quality i could do a better job on a new body, but i aint doing that for awhile.
i need to get some heavier shock oil in the rears and swap in a b4 slipper but other than that this thing is pretty much done. i'll be damned if i let miked finish his rig before i do mine.
i'll post more pics when its all zip tied together.
