Tonight, I would I try to tune the black mystery motor a bit and see how well she runs. I built this from and old yok can rolling around in my spares box and pieced it together with extra bits here and there. Now time to see how well it runs. I had to scratch some timing marks on the can using this motor timing jig.

Now time to see if this old conditioner still works. Wired up the motor and power and hit the switch. Wow, it does work! I warmed up the motor on low speed then checked the zero point and gave it the gas. Not a bad little motor. Loosened the end bell and adjusted for best rpm vs current. It seems pretty happy at 15 degrees drawing about 1.4amps at 30K rpm. I think this one is a keeper. Will have to find an old can label to give it some proper 80s clothes.

Tonight I worked on the old Vette body trying to clean up the mangled area behind the rear window. After thinking a while about he best way to hide this mess was to use the left over lexan from trimming the rear wheel openings and CA them over the old mounting holes. It also strengthened it as this was the thinnest area on the whole body. Very tricky in applying the CA without it wicking all over the place! I seem to get more glue on my fingers than anywhere else. I also made new holes for the rear mount on the upper doors about where the factory door handles would be. I need to order some decals to dress up the body and touch up some chipped paint from the inside. It was a challenge to locate new holes for the body posts since it was already painted. A process made much easier with a clear one!

I just read through this whole thread. It's almost impossible to believe that you started and ended with the same car! The results you got are nothing short of amazing. I don't know if I'm more impressed with your ability to get rid of all of the super glue or your ability to machine a piece of carbon fiber bar stock on a comm lathe

Phenomenal job!

Beautiful body and nice job on the fixes. I would've used Shoe Goo instead of CA glue on the Lexan though, because it will flex whereas CA glue dries perfectly hard and may be brittle. Shoe Goo is what racers use to strengthen the insides of their bodies by gluing on patches of drywall tape in the corners, edges and weak areas. But I must say I love the color you chose, beautiful emerald green there!

Thanks for the tip! If the patch doesn't hold up, I will secure them back in place with Shoe Goo. Just wait till you see the green pop once the protective wrap comes off and decals are on it. I will buy another Greenwood Vette soon just to practice with the airbrush. Lots of room to work on the inside of this body.

Thanks! I also enjoy restoring old clunkers for some reason that I cannot explain. New is nice but my passion remains vintage.

As for the progress, I am mix and matching decal ideas for the body. I have one theme in mind that should go well with the current color scheme. I am in the final stretch now..... :D
