Was getting my steps in at lunch, and was walking a trail near Henricus (2nd successful English settlement in the US). I was hoping to make it out as far as a fantastic sunken boat graveyard that is on the property, but the local power company is taking over the land and have destroyed the trail. I did make it to some areas along the river where multiple sunken barges were, and they were great to see, and then I walked out to a clearing and saw this just next to a modern viewing pier:

My first thought was maybe hand-drawn ferry, but there is no reason for a ferry here (at least not in this age), and there are too many obstacles on the top for a ferry. It is located directly next to a modern pier, so I thought many old pier, but again, too many things on it, and a big hole in the middle of it. I honestly don't know what it is other than cool. This area has many sunken old wooden barges in it, so it may just be a part of one. You can see the remnants of a couple of barges across the way here:

So I have decided to make my lunch walks about history instead of nature or scenery driven. Today's walk was at Drewry's Bluff / Fort Darling. This is just south of Richmond along the James River, and Fort Darling acted as a river blockade to defend Richmond from the Union.

Basically, if you are bringing a boat to Richmond, you have to come up the James River. And about 8 miles south of the city, you have to travel through this .75-1 mile straight stretch that averages about 500' wide.

This seems simple enough, except for the fact that during the Civil War, there was a single 10" and two 8" columbiad guns pointed directly at your bow as you made your way through.

This 14 ft stalk grew out of my plant over the past 6 weeks.

If you look close you can see my pet conure of 24 years in it.

I don't know what it is but it grew so damn fast. I took pictures every few days to catalog the growth.

Yesterday on a stroll. About a 2 foot albino Carp. They're not great for the other fish because they eat all the vegetation, but no major issues that I can see.

Arriving on time, after they've changed the arrival date twice. :x

And I suspect that it won't be tomorrow either.

Yeah, you need to select the "Change delivery instructions" option, and select "Just deliver it already, and stop changing the dates!".

Amazing that so few people realise this....

Carry on.

Broke out my Gen 1 ipod touch and found this on it. It was from this site. I remember it was an IT dude from Lomg Island for some reason. Still a cool build. Early on the site too.
