A lot more work to do still, but at least the fun part is out of the way now and I can start the tedious frustrating detailed part. 😂

anyone selling motor decals like these? I’d love to make a tribute AE 540 with a fresh motor.

Try either UltraHiVE on Ebay or mciracing.ca.
UltraHiVE's are said to be more premium and MCI's are probably more affordable.

Yeah ultrahives are the nicest by far, mci just get the job done. Side by side there is no comparison. Louis doesn't have nearly as many flavors of sticker either. I did reach out about something custom, I'll let everyone know if it comes to fruition

That's what I kind of like about MCI, their labels are more distinguishable from originals. So folks can't pass motors off as originals as easily.

I just use MCI, usually order on 20% off weekends. They serve the purpose as I’m not trying to pass them off as originals, they just look the part in some of my builds

Thanks, and yeah same - not trying to pass one off as a real thing but rather want this to be a finishing touch for my 40th car. Inside will be modern servo, ESC and receiver, but it’s the outside I’ll be looking at on the shelf and around the park.

That and I just miss 80s RC/skate/BMX colors and design in general.

I hacked away at a perfectly good Factory Works rear shock tower for a Cougar. :? I finished the project with the same number of fingers I had when I started. That is normally how I define success. In this case, though, I actually achieved my goals. :D

The XLS upper shock mount and wing wire proved to be to fragile for my erratic driving. I broke the mount a couple of times and had to reshape the wire after literally every run. I updated the whole assembly with re-re Pro CAT parts. This eliminated the wing wire, but also pulled the tops of the shocks in a bit- very close to the body. It was fully functional, so I ran it for a while, but the body was very difficult to install or remove. I had to trim it a lot more than I wanted back around the spur gear- not ideal for where I run.

The Factory Works Cougar rear tower uses B6 wing mounts and provides 6 (vs 1) upper shock locations. Perfect. I knew the Cougar tower could be modified to fit as I had done the opposite when I raced carpet oval. I had used inverted XLS bits on a Cougar to lower it.

Quickie clean up of a Hot Trick Chassis, which would be the same as any G10 chassis. 15 minutes and a $15 HFT headlight kit. I had to go a couple of courses rougher than the kit, but still about 15 minutes and 15 bucks. Chassis isn't perfect, but it never will be. I took it as far down as I was comfortable with.

edit: now that I post that and see the close up, I can do better. I'll go back to 500g or so.

My re-re Schumacher parts stash had gotten out of control, so I finally sorted it. It is still a mess, but at least one box is chassis parts, one box suspension, one box shocks....

Considering how much I have amassed in a few years basically supporting just 2 kits (OG CAT and ally pan 2WD), I couldn't help but wonder how much those of you have been supporting loads of kits for decades must have. I picture something like this:
