Hey Jason, just got around to seeing all the progress and man did it turn out nice 8)

I should've thought about doing something like this before I got rid of all my T2 stuff :(

just go buy some more.

i definately plan on putting another one together at some point in time. i really like it. i'll grab a decent used t2 so i don't have to source a bunch of parts. this one would be to use...... if it would ever happen. my runners never get run.

i was talking with robert last night, and it looks like i'm gonna get to work on a one-off body for this beast. so if anyone else decides to build one of these, there will be a direct fit turbo mirage/viper body available somewhere down the road.

You guys are going to integrate both the viper and the mirage?

ya, that's pretty much what i have in my head right now. i talked to jay last night (yes, he is still alive  ) about getting a turbo mirage from him. then one of us (robert or myself) is going to pour a mold of it. then my idea is to graph the sides of the viper body to the mirage mold. so it'll look more like the turbo miarge than the viper, but it'll fit the shortened t2 tub.

That's a cool idea scr8p. That sounds worthy of starting a new thread when you guys have some progress to report on the body mod. I had thought of trying to use the side pods of the protech with the greenhouse and hood of the viper to have a body fit closer to the pan. But I am not artistically or craftily gifted enough graft it and then mold it as one piece. I once tried to carve a plug to make a Mercedes SLK body for an M03 project, but gave up on it because I knew it would never turn out exactly symetrical. I did that with styrofoam, and then was going to lay up fiberglass cloth w/ epoxy resin or something on it... Wonder if that would have survived a vacuum forming.... :?

i don't think it's gonna be too bad. i just need to pull the sides out a little bit (viper-esque) on the mirage. and if i lengthen the front of the body a little bit, i could probably get away with not having to alter the back edge of the roof.

oh, and i have to add a scoop.

$26.75  Wicked score!

It's always nice to have a shelf queen, and a runner you can beat the hell out of and not care about damage! At the price used RC10's are going for on eBay, I would encourage every one to buy runners as well as queens. So you can enjoy both worlds!

well, it's definately a good buy for the price. will see if it's a wicked score when i have it in hand. :)

as long as the aluminum parts are straight, the trans is in good shape, and the hinge pins aren't bent, i'll be happy. i'm not going to use any of the truck related parts anyway (shocks, shock towers, arms, universals, wheel/tires, turnbuckles), so i really don't care about their condition.

Well it looks like you could sell the truck parts and come off with a free runner to start with anyway. Do I see lundsford on the turnbuckles? Looks like a great start on a runner anyway for the price Jason.

shipping was less than $8.00, so that was pretty good too. :)

ya, looks like there's only 3 though. it'd be nice if it was a complete set.
