I like that alot - I love the consistancy & continuation of theme with your builds, it gives your collection cohesion which somehow makes it more relevant & personal to you 8)

Cheers Dan, yes this is the last car in my 'series' collection - except for the heavy metal shell, which I'll do later on. I'll have to get a pic of all the cars in the Oakley display cabinet 8) 8)

The shell is done, I just need to fit the early graphite chassis and then I'll take some detailed shots of the inside, but for now, this is how its looking. Really happy with it, was a great build and sits nicely with the others :D

The light outside wasn't great today, I need a bright overcast day to really get the best pics, these will have to do for now.

(Oh, I just need some original black wing washers, the white ones are awful as you can see)

I also have a heavy metal shell for it, its all cut out, i just need a few nights to get it masked and painted, should look pretty cool though.

Wow-wee Ben!! Looks amazing! The blue round the windows really works a treat. I just picked one of these up new in box. I intend to build it! This thread will be the perfect inspiration :)

Cool Dan, where did you pick it up from? This build was all from parts, so very costly, but a kit wouldn't of been much help either as I've put a lot of upgrade parts on it.

I'd like to do a NIB build, make sure you do a thread and share it with us.

Lunsford titanium screw was a bit OTT but Cedric made me do it, and it does look ace!

This project is done but it could really do with the older style top covers with the silver graphite writing....

KILLER BUILD, SO many nice blue parts i would love ot have for my runner, (motor clamp).

slapshot they pop up on ebay 10-20 a piece at times. sometimes more. They were sold 1 for xx4, but sometimes pop up as 2 in a pack for the nxt. have seen the dual packs for 20 buy it now.

Ah, I did wonder if they were the same - I am sure I saw a twin pack on eBay this week.

Cheers for the comments, super happy with this build.

Edit, they are gtx ones, will they fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/291159814914

So its been far too long since i was last active on here, but the downtime after xmas gave me some evenings to do stuff, so I decided to paint the heavy metal shell for this XX4.

I've spent the last couple of nights on it, but it's not quite finished, sneaky pic below. It looks cool and refreshing against the other buggy style cars. With a little steering lock i can slam the front of the shell to give it an aggressive look - no need to worry about rubbing when its on the shelf :D

I know I am reviving an old thread.

Jamin - What is the difference between the solid chassis you ended up using, and the previous slotted chassis? Why is the solid more desirable?

Thanks!
