Nice work on the car man. I have the reminants of an Ultima in my stash of parts that I want to one day put a spin on similar of what you are doing...one day.

So are you actually going to drive it or is it going to sit and collect dust  ? Would be a shame to let this car sit around and not join in the fun beating up on some AE products.

Nothing really new on this. But, Brian hooked me up with a pair of yoke hubs. I only had one extra and it was cracked at the camber link hole. I gave them a quick glass beading.

on the back burner right now. i still have to pick up bearings for the yoke hubs, forgot i didn't have any. i may also be ditching the yoke uni's. i've seen a couple guys using tamiya top force uni's so they can run regular pinned wheels on their yokes. i should be able to use them on this build too. i just have to get a pair to find out for sure.

another thing is i only have (2) 2.40 stealths. the one in these pics and one NIB. well, i wanted to fit a 2.40 into another build so i used the one from this car to mock it up. the fabrication isn't done on that one yet, so progress has been halted on the ultima until it's done...... or i pick up another trans.

update.... back on it.

so i had been debating what i wanted to do about a steering bellcrank. servo placement was going to be an issue if i wanted to have the battery inline. well i did a little brain storming this morning, and decided to try a custom works slider setup that's been laying in a drawer for years. i think it's going to work pretty good too. :)

Wow, this build is going way to fast

That steering set-up suits it 8)

Really looking forward to the mounting of the bearings in January.

Nice work. I did the same type of steering mod when I built my woin ultima. I used laser and triumph parts...and possibly some tower hobbies parts. Made a huge difference for laying the battery down the center.

I love those racks, I wonder how they will hold up in the off road scene?

Agreed, intriguing steering setup...how do you keep dirt from contaminating it, though? I assume it's nylon-on-nylon?

its basically a nylon on nylon dovetail style slider. Awesome on dirt oval...

In-line battery , stealth transmission , kustom works sliding rack... Could my old thread have inspired you?

Someone posted a link to your build a few pages back, I never saw it before that. I was already into the trans swap and knew I would be running an inline battery. I really didn't study your car, so the steering is honestly just a coincidence. I was thinking about trying some b2/b3 bellcranks, but I already had the custom works slider.

It works though.

Don't worry, I haven't got copyrights on anything

The sliding rac does work, but it gives you almost too much steering. You might want to dial out some on your radio.

I did run the car for a long time in this configuration, but after the stealth started wearing out, and the moterplate got bent up. I went and built somewhat of a twin-brother with an A&L LW2 transmission.

I'm not using a sliding rack on that one anymore but went for a dual belcrank instead. With the low-profile further to the back and the receiver across off it, saddle packs side-by-side in the center and the ESC tucked right behind them, the weight is less centered sideways now. But it better centered in the length, and immediately felt that does work better for my driving capacity.
I guess I need to make pictures and start a thread on it when I get back home.

Sorry I didn't read the entire thread on yours yet; what body do you have in mind?
I fitted this one, but for now I've mostly been running an old TRX-3 body I recoverd, re-painted and chopped real low
