I need some advice, I just picked up this "A" stamped goldpan, originally I was going to powdercoat and drill for a stealth but upon seeing the "A" stamp now i'm not so sure. One other thing that troubles me is that there are many scratches in the chassis that are still gold and the chassis is spoltchy, it does have one good size silver scratch. The chassis almost looks as if it was painted gold in the scratches to cover them up but if so they did, they did such a good job that i'm not sure. Also if anyone knows, did an "a" chassis ever come with wide front arms and a stealth? So if this was yours, what would you guys do?:

a or b depends on how many other rc-10's you have. Everyone needs a short arm 6-gear car to run.

No other rc10's yet, did get a black tub with a stealth and one good rear arm in the deal with this one though, and plan on getting at least a few more if I can find the right deals.

that car looks pretty nice. i wouldn't do a thing to it except tear it down, clean it up, and put it back together...... replacing anything that needs to be replaced.

I agree, I wouldn't do anything but clean it up.

I second that. From the way it looks it should clean up nice.

Looking at the first pic, do you think that the chassis was painted gold in the scratches to keep it looking new, or was it that scratched up from the factory, and if it is factory, is it normal to be so "splochy?" or should I have used something else to try to clean it (washed it down with laquer thinner, then soap and water - no change)

very nice chassis indeed, clean that sucker and love it.

Ditto on the clean it up as is! Simple Green scrub the nylon parts, and rub the chassis down by hand with a good metal polish like Flitz. The splotches are probably a combination of oxidation and grease. The polish should give it a good look, and there will be a very slight (as long a you go by hand) yellow on your rag from the annodize, but go easy and that one scratch will seem like a beauty mark in the end.

The laquer thinner would have removed any gold paint. Most gold chassis' have color variations, spots, etc.
As all the others have already said, just tear it down and clean it up - nice aluminum spring collars & nice Andy's white front arms- good car.

they weren't perfect from new. they anodized over scuffs and scratches all of the time. the blotchiness on the tub is more than likely the exact same way it looked when it was put in the kit box.

That's not going to happen, however the andy's arms and crp shock collars may be up for sale or trade since i'm thinking of going all original.
