And nice to see you back: it seems like ages since I read a post from you. are you still organising vintage runs-and-meets?

:) it has been a while, guess been busy with other things :(

No more vintage runs here, there is just 0% interest in vintage in my part of the woods, everybody is OOO AHH when I bring one to the track, but not enough intrest to actualy race or hang out :(

Wait till you see pics of 2 or 3 in the dirt geting it on

I love my Samurais, by far my favorite vintage car, it just looks so cool with the scale chassis and suspension, not to many rc's with that much detail.
Its even fun to drive, the 3 diff set-up makes it push like a hay-wagon but it sure makes it FUN :) The noisy drivetrain always draws crowds @ the track

I see that a bit here in WA as well....racers are so serious, just don't want to "stand back" and have some FUN with these vintage cars.....heck, most of 'em don't know what they are anyway...haha.

GREAT looking Samurai......one of the most underrated 4wd's.

The Marui Samurai is a great peice of kit and in my opinion the coolest that Marui ever made ( and they made some cool kits- :D ). I have been working on mine today as it happens, getting it ready for an up and coming vintage meeting in Sydney at the Ryde 27th Anniversary meeting.
Ive fitted a Speed Passion 'Sports Tuned' BL motor with a 65amp 'Hobbywing' esc. Coupled with a 5000mah CORE lipo the car is a weapon. Very easy to drive and I would agree the scale and look of these cars in action come second to none!
I love this car!!

Can the transmission hold up to such powerful combination?

I was told that the differentials were weak for this car, is it true? :D

Ive driven mine countless times with a Tamiya Sports Tuned brushed motor and recently bolten in this little gem. The trans holds up fine. I just striped mine down to replace a cracked diff housing and all the gears were still in top condition.
If you dont run the chain too tight you'll find the drive train to be quite efficient. Im always impressed with the performace this car displays- :D

mine has been run so far on a Tamiya Black Sport Tuned brushed motor, no problems so far but I do hear something skip under hard braking or by going forward from reverse ... my center diff is set loose so im guesing thats what is skipping.

I will go soon to brushless but probably something it the 13 - 17T range.

My centre diff is adjusted just so that its easy to turn but has no skipping sound. The funny thing is that the car doesnt realy need much more faster motor that a sports tuned as its pretty quick with one of these. :D

How does a Galaxy RS compare as a buggy?

The Galaxy is completly different, you can not compare the 2. The Samurai is years ahead.

The Galaxy is 2wd and has VERY primitive suspension.

rojna: what kind of tire and wheel combination did you use for your car in the photo? :D
