Decided to cut some slots in a gold pan and install a trailing arm kit. I have thought about this project for awhile, just couldn't bring myself to cut into the tub with the possibility of messing it up. Turned out to be really easy with a drill bit and some dremel work. It would be cool to mill the tub out like the A&L ad but I don't have the equipment. Here is what I have done so far.

Hey Doug, looking real good. Got the same kit sitting here waiting for me to finish it up. Let's see how yours turns out and then maybe I'll get some ambition. My tub was scratched on the bottom so I cut the sides down and sanded the bottom to what I thought looked good but then I glass beaded the chassis and I'm not happy yet as it showed I didn't sand it smooth enough. Pete, I hope to make some progress on the sprint projects as soon as I get this build complete. I was planning on having a sprint done by now but other projects kept jumping to the head of the list. I have been super motivated to get my hobby room cleaned up and make some progress on projects that I have either started awhile back or have wanted to do. I was getting to the point of not being able to find anything so I figured the best way to organize the parts I have is to get them into the builds I have been planning. It's been a lot of fun watching the parts and hop-ups that I have had laying around finally take shape. It is definitely more fun to build then it is scouring ebay and the forums for parts. Glad to share with you guys and thanks for the kind words.

Al, I would love to see your project when you get back to it. This one has been going really well as I started with a buggy that was practically new. It was a good base to start from as everything is in good condition and I didn't have to hate myself for cutting a brand new tub. I was originally planning just a straight gold tub A&L trailing buggy but I might throw a twist in. Once I get a little further in the build I am going to try something out. Please stay tuned

A&L A-arms came out a year or two before the Stealth....I vividly remember the 1st A&L equipped car that showed up at the local track, most guys then were running MIP trans.....

I just drilled for a stealth, though I used an A&L chassis. Works great.

Made some more progress. Mostly done except for a few odds and ends. Now onto tires and wheels.

Nice catch, I was thinking that someone would notice that. Here are some pics with the wheels and tires. Just a mock up for now with some crawler tires I had laying around. I think I will go with blackfoot tires or imex g-hawgs. The blackfoot tires are pictured in most of the monster conversion ads from the day but I don't like how plastic they are. The G-hawgs have a similar look but will run much better. I had originally planned two separate builds, this one as a buggy and then a monster conversion rc10 with these wheels. Due to the buggy body issues with the trailing arm conversion I started liking the idea of putting a truck body on it instead which then lead to combining the two projects. I think the end result should be good. I will see if I can get some better pics to post.

Here are some updated pics of my A&L gold pan. A Big Thanks to Jake for doing the machining. Got the idea for the pattern from the old A&L ads. Also changed out the tires to Pro-lines.

Looking really nice - great job. Would love some pics for the new web site I am working on if I could get some. We released the first trailing arm kit for RC10, it was this tube conversion, back in mid 1988 and we released the lethal weapon about 5 months before the Stealth tranny came out.
