- CAT XL -

Looky what the postman brought me yesterday, an almost never run CAT XL with the ever illusive front bumper! 8) The UK guy I bought it from was the first owner and as pictures were quite small, I asked him if the car was in good shape, he told me it was and I simply trusted him. Now that I received it, I'm stocked, the car is in awesome condition as the seller only ran it a few times in his living-room. The only thing missing are the battery retainers but I already have them NIP as this is my second CAT and they were missing on the other one as well. I will clean it a bit, polish the shocks and then trim and paint a new body I bought from Jay. I just need time

Here are a few pictures, my baby boy liked it as well and was very intrigued by it, I hope he will get into the hobby as well, time will tell...

Very nice Asso. I was watching this one and from memory it sold at a very reasonable price. I think you got a great deal on a very nice peice of history there. :D

So it was you that got it! I thought it was a SWB version when I first saw it (the grey bumper threw me off). That would be a very early XL as well.

Funny you were all watching it as well and hopefully we didn't enter into a sniper fight :D

Yes Jason, I think I got a really good deal on this one, especially considering it is almost perfect. Can someone enlighten me about the cosmetic/technical differences between a SWB and a XL?

I have yet to see a 2wd XL, does someone have a picture of one?

I was also watching it, but for value only. I sold my new built XL last year :( . Technical differences between SWB and XL is chassis length on XL is 25mm longer, so the main belt and body will be different too.

Word of advice... keep the toddlers away from anything you value. My son's almost 5 now, but from about 18m-4yr, he was throwing Mini-T's about 15 feet into the air. He finally got some respect for rc's after a 12 pound Emaxx knocked him on his butt. Very nice kitty you got there.

I can understand you're jealous of my Small Walking Baby, he's so cute  .

I'm still not sure wheter it is a short or long wheel base by the way...

Its definately NOT a short wheelbase model. Im certain you have an XL. The SWB car is noticeably short and near impossible to get around a track from what Im told. Apparently the team built a longer version of the original CAT for Cecil Schumacher because the short wheelbase was too much of a handful to drive well in competition. As it turns out i think Masami damaged his SWB back in the 87' worlds and borrowed Cecils car which got him the win. Correct me if im wrong guys :|

I agree with bormac. I had a SWB at one time. That is not it!
