Dirt Oval- helpful insight into LTO

Last night, our last local indoor offroad track ran its final race. We have a couple tracks that are outdoor but they are over an hour away.

Daves place: ( http://www.davesrctracks.com ) has a beautiful outdoor offroad area as well as a dirt oval. I've never had experience with Oval and or Outlaw cars. I was going through some of the ones people here have built and I'm impressed with the quality and detail that goes into these cars.

I have just a couple of RC10s in my collection, and in the off-chance I can make it down to run or race there, I wondered what all goes into making a dirt oval car? will a standard RC10 chassis work? Can the bodies still be found? Aside from Custom Works, who else makes kits? How expensive are they to build and is anything special required?

I already have experience with RC Drifting (i was around in the very beginning before the Yoke kits) So I understand the principle involved (sort of) and if anyone has any good sites for Dirt Oval info, I would appreciate it. Perhaps this could be the collect-all thread for Dirt oval related info/questions etc. (build threads aside).

A standard rc 10 chassis will work i have one that I toy with at the races, however they are heavy. As far as dirt oval car you have dominator parts which I think are custom work cars but you also have losi. You can take a standard car or truck and run that on an oval just have to have it set up. Be sure befor you by to check with the track and see if they allow onroad cars if so that will widen the margin on cars that you can use. As far as bodies thats easy here are some links.

Also check out speedys for some conversion parts, here is the link.

I am sure e-bay has something. As always the BST section here is a good place to find pretty much anything.

Hope this helps.
