alright, as some of you kn ow i scored a nib eagle. always wanted one, now i got one. so, here we go with the build thread.
staring with the "A" bag, this mainly consists on the trans. the ball diff comes pre built, so it takes no time to get this together.
now the "B" bag. this consists of the rear suspension pieces, shock tower, body mount, slider universals, motor plate, ect.
the "C" bag consists of the shocks assemblies. i always put shocks together last....... don't know why, i just do. so, i'll be skipping over them and heading to the "D" bag. more to come...............

ok, here we go with bag "D". this was the complete front end assembly.
bag "E", this contained the chassis (which is an unbelieveable POS

), front bumper, servo mount, etc.
bag "F" contained the battery boxes, little receiver mounts, and a couple extra little doo-dads.
now, i'll get started on getting the shocks together. then i can get the wheels and tires on it (bag "G").

looking great so far, the body and wheels are what really sets that truck off though.

you mention the chassis being a POS. what kind of finish is on it? I have a basket case that I'm putting back together, and it looks like someone painted it with a metallic black, the metallic looks like reddish gold or something though. I also heard that there is supposed to be some kind of protective coating on there, which makes it look like crap. I got the paint off with acetone, but the chassis still has like a matte black kind-of finish on it.
So this is an Eagle, right, not a blue eagle? The one I'm putting together is very different in the back, separate trans/susp. mounts/bulkhead.
Looks good so far!

yup, this chassis looks like its painted metallic black. but, it's not just that. it looks like crap in general.
yes, this is an eagle. the blue eagle had a new style trans with a slipper clutch. i got an eagle to blue eagle trans conversion with this. i don't know if i'll do it, but if i can find the parts i need to use it, i might put in in there.

!
that is/was the original 'paint' that came on them and I agree with all that the chassis looks in general crappy. Looks like someone painted it with a brush. I used one of these chassis on one of my bullets with the top deck and made it more acceptable along with also getting an eagle some time ago that someone stripped the gold off of a bullet chassis and looks to be hard anodized black. Asked around and no one seems to remember an aluminum chassis this shape in anything besides that gold the bullet came in....
Anyway, looks good so far Jason...can't wait to see the body painted/mounted.

Sure does look like AE shocks, are they the same size .71 - .132?
Or whatever size they are, I can't tell from the picture how big they are.

they seem to be more along the lines of the 1.02's in comparison.......... maybe a little shorter. longer than .89's though.

cool, that is good to know. It was pretty easy to remove in acetone, and it looks pretty nice afterwards. Mine was all scuffed and rough though, so I repainted with some semi-gloss epoxy black.
A quick tech tip, I found a large ziplock bag, and put in some acetone, then put the chassis it, and laid it on a towel, and squeezed a bunch of air out, so the acetone could do it's job without evaporating. worked great.
that truck is sweet!! I love those wheels and tires on there.
