I've had my Big Boys Toys Desperado for a few months now and I did pretty much all that I could possibly do to it...and I was happy with it until I saw a Big Boys Toys Vindicator...to me those tubes that run from the top of the cage to the front shock tower made it look more complete..and more authentic..so when the chance came to buy a Vindicator cage off Bent I just had to have it...I thought you guys might be interested in its metamorphosis or should that be metalmorphosis so I took some pictures..I'd be interested to hear what you guys have to say...

Yep it's on ebay and I don't care if I sell it or not

I'd love to know if anybody can tell me...were there any other differences between the two cars besides the cage...

Can I ask:

1. what rims you have on there;
2. what tranny is it; and
3. what were these Big Boys cars used for? Did they have their own racing class and, if so, what type of racing was it?

yep it's a beast...the rims,arms,nudge bar and wing are from Barts http://www.rdent.com/pages/sprint.html this car has a hyperdrive conversion in it they normally just ran a gearbox I think...some may have been direct drive.

This car is from the mid 80's and since I'm in New Zealand I really have no idea what classes they ran them in over there....I'm sure another board member will be able to tell us..

Dirt oval racing.
No bumps, no jumps, just turn left.

That's a beautiful sprint car. I think the down tubes really add to the authenticity as you said.

So what was the attraction of that type of racing? Sounds a little one-dimensional to me....

Kind of like the difference between the original indie style racing and F1. Know which one I prefer... (Indie don't work around the streets of Monaco, that's for sure!).

I was a big offroad only racer and resisted the oval due to the lack of excitement. Well, I went down to the Jack Murphy stadium track on a night that I thought was offroad, only to find out when I got down there, it was dirt oval night. Signed up, raced, and had a blast!

Yes it is simple in concept, but when you have 9 other open wheel vehicles on track trying to do the same concept in the heat of a race, it can be very fun. And nothing quite sounds like a chain drive Dominator running 7 cells and an 8 turn modified going full tilt down the straightaway!

Dont get me wrong, I still can't get into the superspeedway nascar races on TV....*yawn*

These are sprint cars. They go around in an oval, usually sideways through the corner, usually with the pedal to the metal all the way around the track. They are about the most awesome form or auto racing you will ever see.

If you've never seen a 1:1 sprint car race, you don't know what you're missing. I've been to Monza to see the Grand Prix of Italy, and I've been to Knoxville to see the biggest sprint car race on the circut. I thought the F1 race was awesome, but given the choice of the two races, I'll go with the sprints. I'm going back this year to see them again. It's about the most balls-to-the-wall, all out racing that you can see. I love F1 and most forms of racing, but not much beats the sprints, although top fuel funny car is also a favorite of mine.

As for the whole oval bias thing that some people have, keep in mind that this is all coming from someone who can't stand Nascar and hasn't watched a Nascar race since Earnhardt died.

4 words; sprint cars,bristol, dirt! that was just plain awesome too bad they dont do it anymore.
