hey guys, i'm going to be adding a new section to the forum. this is gonna be for "donating members" that offer a service. whether it's repro bodies, decals, powder coating, anodizing, lexan body painting, building tube chassis, etc etc. what the fee will be for a member, we haven't determined yet. anyone that is interested in this, please send me a pm, and i will put your name on the list. when we get everything figured out, i promise i will get back to you.

bill also informed me that we will be able to make YOU a moderator of your own forum. this way, you can add/move/delete posts/pics and stuff. it'll be your baby. i just have to figure out how to make it work. i'm no friggin' genious behind the keyboard like i am at every other aspect of life.

so anyway, the first one is gonna be mrlexan. mainly because he's ready to do it, and we want to make sure everything is working correctly.

any updates for us on this?

i just saw that mr. lexan just posted a new post in the business section. when i tried to view that forum this is what i got.

Then you guys are going to have to deal with double posts, one there and one in the BST area. TUFF DEAL WITH IT!

It's not that we can't post, we can't read your posts either, so unless you want to talk to yourself

I don't see anything in the ACP that should or shouldn't be checked to allow others to see this forum.

from the acp

click on the "forums" tab

click on Forum permissions

from the pull down menu select the business section (this will include all subforums of this section)

click submit

from this screen you can add and edit each user groups permissions.

once "registered users" has been added you can select them and what ever other groups you added and click edit permissions

from here you can select the roll that each group has. standard access will alow users to read/reply/and start new topics. you can also go advanced and edit the permissions in more detail.

that "should" be all that is needed to get everyone access. good luck and if you need a screen shot of the areas i'm talking about i can do that also. (i run phpbb on another site)

another way to do it

from the acp

click the forums tab

to the right of the business section click the edit button (green gear looking thing)

the pull down box next to "Copy permissions from:" select a different section to copy permissions from. (like the bst section if you only want bst members to have access or the general section if you want all users to be able to access it.

click submit

it's fixed now.

originally, i forgot to set the forum permissions. this morning, i set the forum permissions, but forgot to set them for the individual subforums.

read access works now.

just no new topic or reply access. will that access be added later so we can post questions about x or will the business section be pm only for questions? i fully understand no new topics and no replies since there isn't really anything there at this time those are not needed.

when you first click on........ say mrlexan reproductions, the three subforums are there at the top, but if you scroll down a bit, there is a place to start a topic...... ask questions, etc.

the subforums are gonna stay locked. that way the business owners can go in there and list their products, and they'll stay nice and tidy.
