Well for my first go I'm quite pleased with how this has turned out I hope you guys think it's ok for a first bash too.

It's not finished yet as I still have a nip gold motor guerd to fit and I plan putting my Sees rims on it when I clean them up, these chrome covers will eventually go on a box art ish 6010 if I can get one sorted. I was going to dye the parts black but the more I look at it the more I like the white so I think I'm going to stay with it the way it is for now and save me some hassle.

I used the body you see here just to get an idea of what might fit as it's a one that came with an ebay win and it's in poor condition so I didn't feel to bad about chopping it up.

One of the problems I have being new at this is I don't have a stash of fixings and parts to use so I am very limited in what I can achieve at the moment. I look forward to your feed back.

Just my own personal opinion... But that looks like the makings of a very nice original RC10. Wouldn't that composite chassis be a little more appropriate for a 6-gear CE or Graphite wide arm kit, or some kind of aftermarket suspension? Seems a shame to use up a nice early car for that chassis. I know you didn't modify any parts, so you can always go back, but something seems wrong in general with that rig.
No offense intended, of course you may do as you please, I just noticed how nice the original RC10 parts looked.

I think that your first graphite project was better Take your screwdriver and go back to the "coxyben-graphite" hybrid.

No offence taken templeofspeed, as I said I'm new to this game and appreciate any constructive comments.. I have a couple of 6010s and not much else that I would want to take apart. One of which was really cheap and bought specifically for spares, I have used the worst parts of the two and kept the other nicer white bits to put into a box art 6010. Although a nice gold tub chassis, nose plate and motor mount in the same shade of gold seems to be an impossible quest and is holding that project back. So I though I would rather put this together and have a finished car than a load of bits lying about. You are quite right though nothing has been butchered so it would all go back together if I wanted it to. Would this chassis not have been an available modification at the time of the 6010s I would like to sort of keep thing date accurate

I know what you mean ra272 but I have a Tekin chassis on it's way for the coxyben car, I think I might give it some more thought. Thanks Guys.

With the tekin, I think you can't use the rear Andy's arms and the Hotbodies body.

I think the Tekin comes with it own rear arms , I have a few new bodies lying around I can use for the Tekin, the hotbodies body looks rubbish on the comp chassis. I'm defo going to give it some thought I might put it back how it was and put the spare 6 gear trans I have in it Great advice guys thanks.

You just need to keep your eyes peeled for a bunch of junk piles or lots on ebaY. The stuff will come. People always list piles of arms, towers, tubs full of hardware, etc. The good thing is people typically would be more willing to ship small lots internationally.

Just an example (I know it's mostly crap, but it seems the steering might be interesting, you never know when you might need a purple rear bulkhead, oh my god there's some white rod ends, etc):

Of course now on this listing you'll have to deal with all the vultures here, but you get the idea.

Junk piles rule

To be honest when I started with RC10s I only wanted three a 6010, a CE and a composite of some description and that's one of the reasons I haven't bought all sorts of piles to build up the parts box, I'm going to try and make the Tekin the last one .

the tekin kit comes with rear arms, and you might as well use a new body on it since you have to cut the crap out of one to make it fit.

i like you first composite build version as well.

We are a bunch of back seat drivers, heh.
But I agree with previous posters; since the chassis is "hop up", it would make sense to keep the theme and put all your aftermarket parts on one car, on this chassis.
Without much work, you can flip the 6 gear tranny around and make it a mid. The saddle pack chassis are perfect for this since the weight is being shifted rearword by the battery configuration, you compensate my moving the motor forward. Not that you are ever going to actually benefit from whatever handling these changes would make... but I do believe most saddle pack chassis were meant to have a mid motor design.
