I got an un-built rc10 team car on the bay and the chassis in the kit is really beat up looking. There are deep scratches and pits in the metal under the black anodizing. Did associated really let product go out the door looking this bad? I know from their end its only going to get dirty and scratched up anyway but now years later looking for a shelfer I am a little upset that it looks so bad.

was it a factory sealed kit? if not it could have been reanodized from someome. I just found a partial nib A stamp with a nose piece stamped off center in a factory sealed parts bag. Maybe they had some quality control issues back then. I just biult the kit with the bad part and will replace it when I find a new one.

Most I have seen are not silky smooth. There are machine marks and many have the swirl marks around the drill holes. If it is under the anodizing it is from the factory unless it has been redone. Any deep scratches like that after anodizing goes through the color and is silver in color. The pits are new to me, but I have yet to see one actually perfect.

I have seen similar, too bad..........
That is an early black chassis still has the offset battery cup holes.
Build it up it will still look nice or wait for a nicer one - they show up.

well, it's gonna sit on a shelf right? so you won't see the bottom. and you'll paint the body, so you won't have to see the top.
i've never seen a perfect tub. but, that one is pretty bad. i think they should've sent that one to the powdercoater instead of the anodizer.
