L-cars

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself and share pics of a couple EBay finds I just got. A buddy told me about RC10talk so I had to check it out. My name is Dean and as a kid I began racing an RC12I back in the 80's in Southern CA, I've often heard people refer to that time as the "Frank Killam era of racing". I then moved on to the 12L, RC10 gold chassis, etc. I quit racing in high school and gave everything away to a newbie racer. As an adult I began racing again and have been on a quest to get some of the old cars I once had. I just recently picked up a 12L and 10L on Ebay. I've got unpainted TOJ bodies for each and a couple old Trinity motors. Enough rambling... here is a pic of the cars. I'm going to restore 'em and maybe put a couple laps on 'em.

Welcome!, there are a couple of places that still have a fair amount of NOS parts for those cars-

Thanks for the welcome. I've been trying to hunt down some parts. Other than Ebay, do you happen to know of some other resources?

Nice cars, and welcome to the board.

Get those pan cars ready to go! The Vintage On Road Nationals will be held in Nashville sometime around the beginning of 2010, the track director wants us to work around a few of the big races he goes to so we don't have a concrete date set just yet.

Vintage On Road Nationals huh? Hmmm I'm really interested. Where can I get some info about the race such as what classes will be run, what tires, batteries and motors are allowed, etc?

Like I said we're still in the planning stages, but we definately have a track. Thunder RC in Nashville TN.

1/10th pan car, 12th scale and gearbox(dual sport ect)
Same motor and battery rules as the vintage offroad race, 27 turn stock brushed or 17.5 brushless and 7.2 for round cells or 7.4 volts lipo

Open tires and open electronics

I'm planning on making it to this one. I've talked to a couple of buddies to see if we can get a group together, also I'll call some friends in Southern CA to see if we can get them out there. I'm pretty rusty and pan car racing, will there be a "I'm too rusty to run with the experts" class? LOL

markt311... I sent you a PM regarding the Nats. I'm new to this forum and am still trying to figure out how to PM correctly so I don't know if you got it.

Lonestar, this is Maurice. How about you post some TOJ teaser pics, even of the styrene cars to gauge some interest?

Maurice, we're still doing some testing and aren't quite ready yet. I want to make sure it's flawless before we unveil it. Stay tuned. ;-)
