Latest members, how can other members help?

Is it possible to reduce the level of automation on registration of new members? the latest one seems to have a particularly inappropriate name that would not have been accepted by a reviewing moderator. This might be to much work as I don’t know what it would entail, I don’t know if it is possible but maybe it would help the work load if more selected members in different time zones could delete a new membership if it is obviously dodgy?

Wow, I hope this doesn't turn out like my post on a similar subject...

I do agree, it's pretty easy to go through the memberlist and figure out who's an RC enthuiast and who's not at this point just by their www links.
I wouldn't delete any based on zero post count though, just the really obvious ones.

There should be a way to prevent or at least restrict spammer access via the signup process, right?

Yeah

I hate, hate, HAAATE Spammers. And people that deliberately try to defeat a Swear Filter. Places that dont CATER to that kind of thing, and more, are sooo hard to find. Please keep this one of them.

How much can a Spmmer make anyway? Anyone know? It would have to be a TON.....a RIDICULOUS amount of money for me to do something that would make me as hated as Spammers and Telemarketer are, by ME alone!!! I noticed on a Paintball Forum I was a Mod on, that right about the 200-300 (about where this page started too) member mark, the Fake Members/E-mail Harvesters started rolling in. Do they get paid by the 200 CRAP they disperse?

I almost made a Telemarketer cry one time.

I think in this particular case with a form id of T**NS*X it's fairly obvious that this is a dodgy membership and if it's not I suspect the name would not be acceptable anyway. Any legitimate member with the ability would have just deleted this membership or if we had the facility sent it to quarantine for the moderators to assess when they have time, this would have removed it from the home page at the very least. I am only making suggestions for comment, this might help the membership, help the moderators.

I registered with a ZX12R site yesterday, trying to part out my motorcycle, and I still do not have access to the site. Every new member is reviewed by a mod and then access is granted. I know that is a lot of work, but I would volunteer for it.

Hoopty, just hover over some of the www links with the guys with zero posts, you will see that some of the URL names contain some questionable words or material. I would not click on them, but you can probably tell what is what.

I'm actually getting spam email past my filter that only lets in emails from people on my contact list...how that is possible i have no idea????

I sympathize with anyone trying to stop this nonsense...My buddy is a mod at another forum and he seems to put in an hour every other day deleting or banning these idiots...

It's like trying to cure athletes foot!!! ITS NEVER REALLY GONE!!!
