Advice needed, anyone into DSLRs?

I can see this thread falling into the either in front of my eyes but that's OK. I thought I would start a DSLR thread as I am considering moving from my 35mm EOS to my first digital a 400D. If anyone has an opinion I would be interested, my budget only goes to £500 as I spend so much money on TOY CARS.

I am a bit outdated on mine DSLR... it is five years old now, a Canon 10D, but it is still going strong. To be honest, I have not keep up with the latest and greatest from Canon, as the photog thing in my life costs way too much money, mainly due to travel from racetrack to racetrack. Not to mention Motorsports Photography is a pretty cut-throat business at least the series that I follow. Do some searching online for reviews and if you are in the US, I used B&H Photo for pricing comparisons.

My wife bought an Olympus Evolt 500 last year for $800 with 2 lenses. You can get it cheaper. It has been a good one so far. We both suck at photos but have taken some nice ones with it.

I bought my Nikon D70S last year and I love it. Fantastic body and the lenses from Nikon are without equal.

I was looking to get a D80 at B & H but they are out of stock . Where did you buy your D70 Apex?

Thanks,

Mannekenpis.

I bought mine last January at Cameta Camera. Package deal with case, lens and a bunch of other things at a really great price.

Thanks for the link Doug. As you said, there is nothing better than Nikon for the lenses.

OK budget busted :P I think it's going to have to be a 30D, I have a few friends with Nikon D40s,50s and 70s and I love their quality and robust feel but I need to stick with Canon as I have a number of lenses for this bayonet. So Saturday's going to arrive and £££££ will depart

Thanks Fifthscale....... I miss photoging, I can honestly say it truely relaxes me, but costs too much money to keep that profession alive.

MrLexan, those are some sick shots. The Maserati shot is now my background on my work computer. 8)

Thanks Mel... those are a couple years old now as most of my newer stuff is on CD.... that was all I had on my hard drive. The Maseratis are from the Monterey Historics in 2003. That year was the Ford 100 Year Anv. and Ford was the marquee. Being a Ford guy, I would not have missed it for the world. If anyone is into vintage racing, you MUST go to Laguna sometime in life. The Brian Redman Challenge at Road America is a close second.
