In my quest for obtaining CAT parts, can anyone advise me on where to get hold of spare screws, nuts, etc for the CAT (SWB through to XLS)?

Thanks.

Hi,

You can buy self tappers / machine screws of the correct lengths from here http://www.rapidonline.com/products.aspx?tier1=Tools%2c+Fasteners+%26+Production+Equipment&tier2=Fasteners+%26+Fixings&tier3=Nuts%2c+Screws+%26+Washers. Make sure you get slotted instead of cross-head for the early CAT's (depending how worried you are about being true to the original Schumacher spec :) ).

Hope this helps,

Ian

When I built my XL BITD I replaced those cursed tap head screws with cap head screws. Not original but I just couldn't keep taking that car apart with my flat head screw driver! I chided Cecil Schumacher for that at a race in Florida so many years ago (1987 or 88) and he was a bit shocked. Apparently Europeans like tap head screws.

He went on and on about the amount of plastic the screws displaced. I told him I didn't care about that because it made his car a PITA to work on. He just laughed at me.
