looking for a Candy Apple Red Paint for my MCE1000 body. i filled in all cracks, reinforced in fiberglass underneath, primed in flat white, sanded down to smooth surface.... Now i am having problems finding a good sweet looking candy apple red paint..

I tried the Tamiya Spray Can Red Metallic, it was too sparkly and light
I tryed the pactra and i wasnt happy either really, it was OK but not what i wanted.

Can anyone suggest maybe a different brand or type of paint, i can spray with airbrush or use a can, or suggestions on how to lay it down..

i saw at pepboys a silver base with a red anodized top coat, and it looked great in the picture but wasnt sure about it. hoping someone would have a better suggestions, and tips on how to apply it.

Any Good suggestions on a clear coat also? i want the body to look like glass when done.

thanks!

if its hard plastic use house of color. I use real car paint on mine it looks great and the automotive clear holds up better to scraches

look to see if there's any body shop jobbers in your area. maybe they'd carry HOK. doubt it, but you never know.

thanks We have a 1/24th scale Dragstrip for Slotcars. I spend more time building these lately than racing. here are a few more.

i drag raced 1/24 slots for a couple years about 10 years ago. unfortunately the place closed down. i learned real quick not to spend too much time on hard (model) bodies. it sucked when they were going like 60-65 mph, popped out of the slot, slammed into the wall at the end of the shutdown, then dropped to the floor. parts were everywhere. :(

i had a beautiful Stone Woods & Cook willys, until the above happened. so after that, i threw together this 40 willys body from an amt kit. one color, no decals, and slowed the car down to run consistent 1.200's (scale 1/4 mile) with a mild group 12 motor. awesome bracket car. i finished 3rd in points with it 2 years in a row.

thats cool Scr8p I like it since theirs no RC tracks here unless I want to go 8th scale. I have been doing the slots. our track has a king size bed quilt to catch them if they come off. some still miss. what gets me is while your walking down to get your car off the track and someone comes screaming down and rearends you. but the rule is if your fault you buy the car.
