Im sure this subject has been brought up but how many projects can you work on before you get nothinng done my rule of thumb is when i run out of parts for one i bring the next in line i have them on trays when the wall is reached i pile it all back on the tray and reach for the next tray at the mo i have three lazers one com com tub 2 zx which are my fav 4wd my scrap yard baja a DS runner that needs some tlc and good weather to run , ohh and my first atempt at a oval car i was inspired by Eau Rouge and his SRP 1
mInes a optima mid based oval it has a 11 inch wheel base
SO HOW MANY YOU GOT GOING ?

Waaayyyyy toooo dang manyyy muhahaha rcs anyways.Just got my second motorcycle 1 to1 its a 500 honda shadow so the rc stuff on hold lol.Still workin on my 79 chevy shortbed too.Don

I have at least 20 - 25 awaiting to be built.

1 FiberLyte RC10
1 RPM RC10 still awaiting the perfect chassis
2 D&D Graphite builds (once I rehab the chassis')
2 Gold Pan shelfer cleanup/restores
1 TQ10 cleanup/restore
1 T2 buggy project
1 Tamiya Original Blackfoot 1/2 way built and missing parts to eventually complete
1 YZ10 to rebuild and cleanup
2 Losi JrX2s
2 Losi JrxTs
Oh and 4WD RC10 if MIP ever re-pro's the kit

I decided that I had WAY TOO MANY projects on the table, and I didn't want to be on the show "Hoarders" with my wife crying in the background. Actually, I sold most everything I had (cars), and have really one project remaining. I kept my original RC10 build parts, to hopefully replicate my first car that made me love R/C.

I think having 20+ unstarted or unfinished projects only added to my frustration and anxiety that this hobby started to bring to me. In trying to simplify my life, I made a conscious decision to eliminate as much of the collected stuff that filled my hobby room as I could, and that included my most prized collectibles. At this point, anything I had of true value has been sold off and moved on to someone else. I can't honestly say that I miss any of it, either. The shop continues to get emptier and emptier, and my happiness continues to increase (not to mention the bank balance).

The reality is—for me—the multiple incomplete projects meant a lot less to me than I thought they did. In the end, they were just material possessions that robbed my funds, filled my hobby room, and bound me to "things" that had no meaning.




For me, TWO is too many. And I'm happier because of it.

I figure enough projects to cover my bench, plus one, is the right number.

No, that just means you need a bigger bench.

funny enough, as I have been getting more stuff in, my bench space has grown to accommodate the projects, amazingly still maintaining the ratio of a full bench+1.

I feel you Doug, I have been grapling with these thoughts myself. I so love it but it has been robbing me of some time with the family and wife. I have 2 little ones ( 4 & 2 1/2 ) then ( 2 ) teenage son's who r not into it and one is giving me hell right now. So I will be liquidating some items . But not the really cool stuff that I don't have multiples of already. This is my vice but I must sacrifice.
