Does anyone know the hex size for the tiny screws that hold the bushing in the idler gear on the six gear tranny? None of the sizes I have seem to fit it, and I want to put bearings in it.

i believe they're .050, like a pinion set screw. i don't have any laying around to be positive on that, though.

They are smaller than .050.
That is all I know.

Nope, not .050. I tried about 4 different .050's, no go. This has got me stumped, I thought I owned every hex size known to man!

i found a couple of the correct allen wrenches. if ya need one, pm me your address.

My calipers tell me the size is .0345 ish.
Pretty damn small in any case.

i think your right. i did some looking around. the smallest three hexes i can find are .028, .035, and .050.

So looks like .035 then. I'm going to take on of them up to the hardware store with me tomorrow and see if I can score one, probably have to buy a whole set.

Now I know what those little screws and the little allen wrench were for. I found them and they were just the right size to fix the clip on my knife.

just buy a new set of idlers from tower and you'll get the little allen key with a set of new screws that comes with the new gears. The heads of the screws strip very easily...I've had to notch a few with a dremel to remove...not hard with a cutting wheel but a pain none the less...

I have used fine valve grinding paste on the tip of the wrench with good success. Also helpful for phillips screws that are almost stripped. I think the real problem is the supplied wrench isn't really precisely cut on the end...

The wrench is .035 or .9mm. The .9mm is a popular 00-80 size, your LHS might have the Wiha version 26309 which also says .035"/.9mm right on it. Popular on micro helis. Or yeah, the new gears come with the tool...
