I'm trying to find out a little history on this car..can anybody tell me anything? I've tried searching on ebay etc but no luck..

This chassis resembles the Kyosho Peanuts series racer but I'm not sure it is one...my Kyosho catalogs run out before 86 and there is a Peanuts Series Celica Rally car which is similar layout but with a different engine layout, a massive horizontal cooling fan and a very metallic rear end and plastic mid and front chassis. I think if you went back further the cars would be more metallic rather than plastic. After 86 they moved to the minitz line...I don't claim to know but I would guess this is a clone of the Peanuts racer.
The mini body is a dead match for the Kyosho GP Mantis Mini(AKA PetitTen) FF but that came much much later in about 2000

This kyosho GP cooper was made in 1970s. It's the relative old production. Chain engine. Only front Shock absorption. the stick back is the handy start.

I know this is an old post But I was looking for information about this mini..... The pictures are of the mini I have owned for about 2 years. I did get it going when i got it but i have decided to clean it up and keep with the rest of my Kyosho minis.... the electric version and my Fwd mantis.

I've had this mini for like 20 years but we've never managed to get it running properly.

I was wondering if anyone has the user manual for this so I can rebuild it and clean the engine etc... or if there are any website where I could get hold of any parts I might need. also what type of COX 049 engine is it? startsure? or whatever the name is..?? thanks

not a problem eizoz. Took care of it for you. Good luck with the rebuild. As stated above the OP is long gone from the board (hopefully) but this is a cool car that needs some kind of attention.

It looks exactly like the OP's Mini Cooper, which is Kyosho Kit #2386.

Unfortunately I don't have any background on the car.
