Can't get gear off the diff tube.

Hi,
Anyone know how to remove the diff pinion gear fom the diff tube in the 6 gear transmission without destroying it? I tried to buy a new tube but had no luck finding one. These old parts are near impossible to find.

it's pressed on. just twist it off.

if you have to, gently place the tube in a soft jaw vise on the diff ring side, and gently twist the gear, and it should come off. I think I used a pair of pliers and a cloth or paper towel wrapped around the gear to prevent mangling it.
heating the gear with a lighter or something should also expand it and make it easier if it's really stuck on there.

Thanks. I got it to come off but it took more than just twisting it! Hard to believe it doesn't loosen up on it's own from use.
