Idler Gears

Does anyone have any pointers on upgrading the idler gears? I need to take my buggy apart to clean it. I wanna upgrade the gears while the vehicle is apart. I have disassembled vehicles before but I have never opened up the transmission before.

check to see what colour idler gears you have, black ones were an upgrade so thats what your chasing.
also there is many a thread on here how to build a six gear transmission. someone will link to the best ones im sure.
any pics?
