question about 3/16" rear axle

I switched over to the AE 3/16" rear axle to run the 2.2 duratrax wheels. However, the axle does not have the deep recess to put the stock spring into. This causes a little slop in the dogbone setup. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if there is some fix for it.

Here's the part.

I was trying to find what car uses this part out-of-the-box so I could see how it was assembled, but I can't even find a car that has this part as stock.

I have some shims, so maybe that's the key. I was putting them on the outer part of the axle between the outer most bearing and the axle pin that goes into the wheel. Maybe I'm doing that wrong.....???

put a red shock o-ring in the stub axle and the trans outdrives. if that's too much, just do it on the stub axle.

I do as scr8p describes and run o-rings on the trans outdrives, it helps it be less jumpy in there with the o-ring.

Is it the same as the Rear Stub Axle #9670 from the B4 RTR ?

the axle from the b4 would be longer, i'd imagine.

Will a pan-car front spring fit? They are much shorter and wider than the Associated spring.

I used a ballpoint spring cut in half on my RC10ce

I've also used different shock travel spacers. Johnny
