After waiting well over half my adult life, I finally have one.

No more searching e-Bag & flea markets..no more building tributes or look alikes...whoo hoo!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Sand Scorcher 2010 is a reality!

The blue tote bag is pretty cool too.

& I have an idea for the paint job...

I'm thinking of possibly doing the yellow & red paint job from the inside cover of the April 1981 issue of VW & Porsche Magazine.

I've seen plenty of the white & blue box art paint jobs over the years. I like it, but I want to do something different.

:D I was looking at the old add...The 'Scorcher w/battery & charger package were $189.95 back in 1981..Just add the $99.98 radio system & 10(?) hours of build time & you're ready to go!...not bad...$289.93 total...I paid only $80 more 29 years later!..and it has ball bearings & electronic speed control!

Talk about patience being a virtue, and the best things come to those who wait.... 8)

Congrats - I have to agree that they look awesome in the box. Really does take one back. Definitely go for an original paint scheme over the the boxart one....it will then be uniquely yours!

You bet!

I couldn't afford one back in the day, & they stopped producing them by the time I could.

Years later when I discovered eBay, I wasn't about to pay 2-3 grand for a NOS one, or 3-$600+ for a restored one.

I know it's not the exact same vehicle, but I have no regrets. :D

I can't wait to build a factory fresh kit!

I love this thing, no problems (so far) with the build.

I've heard of the issue with the rear bumper on the early production cars.

The only snag I've run into (oddly enough) was with the fit of the front bumper.

It looks like there are 2 posts that may have to be removed(?) for it to sit flush on the chassis.

I love all the subtle "improvements" Tamiya made over the old design. I'm sure the purists (collectors) can breath a sigh of relief knowing it's not exactly like the 1979 & up version. The most noteable are the front trailing arms, rear axle joints, & body.

I think I've got about 2 hours in it so far to get it to this point. I may finish up the shocks and wheels this weekend.

Almost there.

Wheels are tedious to put together, shocks look like they could be leakers like the originals...no worries, car is awesome with all that bare metal.

Oh, figured out the FT bumper issue...it helps to actually read the directions!

(Whoops!)

The decals are pretty cool, peel & stick, no cutting.. :D

I may not be using all of them for this one though.

They're off the 2009 Buggy Champ. The new Fast Attack vehicle has the same set up, but different colored wheels.

nice car, but why did you bolt the wheels together backwards, the nuts go to the inside?
