...in the creation of this thread. It's started out looking something like this....(not the real car but a dead ringer stunt double)



But I got inspiration from an orphaned TQ10 motor plate. With a bag of black oxide 4-40 nuts, I came up with this...(in progress)



The chassis bottom was well worn and scratched, but I experimented with with a coat of surfboard resin. Sanded and polished...

Yep. After prepping, (had a couple holes to fill and textured the unscratched smoother areas), I put tape on the underside over the factory holes. I squeegeed on a topcoat and the scratches naturally instantly disappeared. After curing, I sanded it down. Gave it a wet/sand and polish to get a good smooth reflection. Then I cleaned out the factory holes with a bit/countersink. Totally curious to run it and see how it holds up. When I flex the chassis it seems good to go. The question would be impacts from rocks and such. Based on the character of the resin around the holes where I had to re-drill and sink, the bond is impressive.

I think you need some Mr. Zog's Sex Wax on it now.

I've been thinking about doing this with crystal clear epoxy, yours looks great! The bond should be fantastic provided you de-greased the chassis during prep.
