Black and White and Gold all Over

Wanted to share some pics of my gold pan runner. It started life as a CE that I enjoyed until stadium trucks got popular and I put this in the closet in favor of my 10T. At some point while it was stashed away, the rear a-arms were taken off and destroyed. I think I used them in some science project or something. Fast forward 20 years or so and my parents called and asked if I wanted it or if they should throw it away. This is what I started with....

Here is the chassis with everything stripped down. Overall, the teardown went well, there were no missing parts except for the rear a-arms and a few missing screws.

The chassis is in decent shape. A few extra holes. That silver bit from the pics above was just some aluminum foil tape, which really didn't do much to stop scratches.
Anyway, since I want to run this thing, I decided to get it up to speed with modern parts that are readily available:
Rear:
Steath Transmission
B3 CVD
Avid Bearings
2.2 Wheels
RPM stock length A-Arms
Front:
Shorty Bumper
RPM Stock Length A-Arms
Avid Bearings
2.2 Wheels
The build went really well. With the B3 CVDs, I had to shim the axles a little more than I would have liked, but it worked. I tried to get as much backlash out of the steering as I could and used RPM ball cups and glued the servo saver. Probably the best thing I did was get a modern radio with end point adjustments. super easy to set up, no more glitches. What an improvement over my old VT2P radio.
Here are the final pics... this is the original (~20 year old) body and original battery...

That looks really really nice.... I think its a credit to the fact that you must have looked after it well back in the day that it looks so fresh now. I like the idea of using one of he battery cups to mount the speedo, very trick!

Thanks. Yeah that's a Novak 610RV and it's too big to fit next to the battery (without putting the battery at an angle at least) so I turned the battery cup into a little shelf.

Some more work was done on this car in the last few months:
-Trimmed the nose plate
-Bleeder caps (really like these)
-Associated wide track front arms (decided I liked the way they look better than RPM)
-'Atlas' steering linkage (also really like these)
-Whitened parts
-Some orange washers from Axial that clash nicely I think
I've seen some cars with gold 4-40 locknuts. Anyone know where I can find these? Before I call this thing done, I'd still like to find some B2/B3 wheels as my plastic thunder tiger fronts (or whatever they are) have cracked at the bearing. I also have a new shell to paint a more appropriate color scheme.

Can you tell me about the 'Atlas' steering linkage?

I believe he's a forum member who makes these and other parts. When I got them off eBay, I didn't make the connection until I saw some other people call them 'Atlas' parts. (I hope this is all correct...)

Man that is pretty clean, like the attention to detail, with the washers and all. Is that a J-Concept ball joint on the steering turnbuckle?
