I picked this up this week at a LHS. It was buried under mounds of bodies. I bought it thinking one of you guys might be interested in it but then I took it out of the bag for pics and I fell in love with it. I think its beautiful! I think its a 1/12 TOJ but im not sure. Guy at the shop said he has no idea who painted it but it was done many years ago.
I don't know what im going to do with it yet. I might need to buy a 12e/i to put it on!

That's just beautiful.
Why doesn't anyone offer a remake of this body?
Mr. Lexan? Associated? Anyone?

I might be off base here, but it seems like that same paint scheme was in a bunch old MRP ads and in their catalog. Can't remember if MRP ever offered prepainted bodies or not. If they did, I'd put my money on this being one of theirs.

It sure does look MRPish. It may as well be but it was in a bag with a header tag that had the HS's logo and price and nothing else. The guy that worked there said they did a bunch of these in the '80s and this one was just left over from then. Maybe they were done by MRP, Andy's etc and they just repacked and labeled them as their own?
Either way I think its a killer looking body!

It's a TOJ. I don't believe MRP made a TOJ, not that I recall (but I am not always right). As for repros. I don't think there is much of a market for them. Not sure the time and tools to have them sitting around (IMO.. no offense intended).

My initial guess was parma, but after looking a few times I thought MRP. One of those two companies had that paint scheme in their catalog for some 1/12 body. I remember copying that one for a Kyosho Plazma way back when. The scheme seems rather complex for a Parma prepaint (no offense intended for the Parma people). Might not have even been a factory paint and just done by a local guy. Nice clean job though.

I think this 1:1 was the inspiration for the paint scheme...maybe.

I finally got this body mounted thanks to Rick for lending me a 12l for a few years

It was my first attempt at trimming a body other than a buggy ever! I think it turned out great other than I followed the cut lines on the front wheel wells and now the wheel/tire combo are too small for the opening. Im trying to find some larger wheels/tires in Wanted section. If anyone can help I would appreciate it!
As you can see the front wheels/tires look too small for the wheel well. This wheel measures 1 3/4" tall. Im thinking something in the 2"+ range would be about right and I would like the wheel to be in the style of the rear wheel. Any help with that would be appreciated! Thanks,
Mike
Edited to add, I would like to find some old AE stickers for where the 3 white number circles go. Help with that would be cool also! Thanks!
