I assume it would just shade it at the most, but just wondered if anyone has tried.

Lexan is polycarbonate (as far as I know)
Polycarbonate will not 'tint' (as the process of adding color to plastic is known in the optical industry).
We are able to tint polycarbonate lenses in the Optical industry only when the scratch coating that is applied to the bare poly is tintable. The drawback to this is that when the scratch coat gets scratched-- the scratches show up easily.

what are you trying to do?
wonders can be done with tint film from the car window tinting places
finished product won't be any less fragile (scuffs, scratches) than the plexiglass in the first place

dyeing only works for materials which absorb wather; like nylon
