is there any specific holes that need to be drilled or any major modification that needs to be done to convert the RC10 over...........i might be getting another Rc10 gold pan and wanted to do the mod to it

Yes, 4 new holes need to be drilled and the tub needs to be hacked to clear the motor.

There is a tech section that most of these questions SHOULD be asked. Not on the buggy fourm!

i wouldn't do a mid motor setup on a tub chassis, but that's just me.

i would swap but i only have one car right now..........i'm waiting for the guy to e-mail me back about the other one.........from the description it's really scratched on the bottom and the nose plate is bent from hitting a tree........i figured it would be a perfect candidate for the mid motor conversion

a graphite chassis would be the best candidate for mid motor.

as far as i know it's just a black pan car.........it might be a gold pan............the guy has two different ones and depends on which one he wants to trade to me............it might be a carbon pan or a graphite pan.........i can't remember right off hand and i deleted the e-mail(so stupid)..............we'll just have to see how things go but as soon as i get it i'll post pics of what i got/ if it was a steal or not

Lowrydesign did a mid-motor setup on a tub chassis.

He turned the motor to the other side, so that the rear suspension would load properly on acceleration (i.e. what must be done when one has a 3-gear vs. 4-gear trans.).

It jumped really flat.

ditto!

I waited 'till I had a graphite to do it.

You can flip the 6 gear trans around & not drill any extra holes-- you will only use 2 of the 4 screw in the trans case, though.

With a Stealth, you will have to drill holes-- in that case, a pre-stealth chassis will work best.

here's my build

That motor is backwards, and while some of them may run for a bit that way-they won't for long. You want to move the topshaft to the other side of the car ( right side )

Also the rear end will unload from the torque of the motor accelerating, which can result in strange handling

Dave, have you posted any pics of the BMW 2002 in your avatar?

Reggie,

I have not.

Its a '75 2002 racecar that belongs to a buddy.

I'll try to get some better pics from him soon.

couldn't i just turn the trans around for it to work?

No spur shown, but the "normal" way to mid engine a car, and your diff needs to be flipped or it will loosen as you drive.

Turning the tranny around makes it a rear engine car
