Well i have a few heads ive been trying to paint... and they all come out terrible.. i look at pictures, i try different paints, different brushes, etc etc.. and they never seem to come out looking good..

i ordered one of these, along with a few of his heads he made which i already have....

hopefully will have some good info... what paints are you guys using? i have a ton of tamiya paints, but they just seem to watery and translucent, and they need to totally dry between applications otherwise they lift off the peice..

Any tips/tricks/free guides? what paint u guys use?

looking at those heads i would approach it like i was paint an air-fix model plane and use enamel paints

i tried enamels, testors, tamiya, pactras, all sorts.. its really not the paint so much rather my technique to go about it lol.

tamiya has its advantage since it can be thinned and gives you a multi layer transluscence to the skin etc..

I use acrylics. I use very fine brushes an go slowly. It doesn't hurt to have a bit of artistic talent. Mine arent perfect but I think ok. Here's one I did for my Hotshot. This was a repaint of one that was botched. If yopu peruse some model building websites you'll come upon some great tutorial that will walk you through the steps. The key to remember is that the face isn't all one color and it's not pink. Eyes are not white. Use a series of washes and drybrushing to bring out the features.

I got the same heads and figured it might be worth the $18 to get the paint guide book. I had a tamiyaclub member named Fabrimtb paint some heads for me and they were killer.

Brushes make a big difference as well...invest in some nice pure sable hair brushes and lose the crap. Do not dip the entire hair section into the paint, this keeps the hair pliant and your brushes will last forever. Plastic modellers use a combination of acrylic, oil paints and dry brushing to get the desired effects with figurines.
