there is an epoxy spray can from VHT called 'roll bar' paint. Tough epoxy single stage, semi-gloss that looks really good, I've used before. If i get a chance, I'll try and snap a pic to show the finish. it's got a picture of a jeep on the can, so its got to be good, right?

Engine enamel is pretty durable also Metalcast paint will give you an anodized finish best to bake it around 250 degrees for about an hour let it cool slowly so the finish will give, if cool too fast will chip easily, once cool ready for use.
I own a few guns and I used Moly resin to protect them, you know how tough gun finish needs to be, it needs to be bake at 300 degrees for an 1 hr it's almost like powder coating finish also needs a air brush to apply.

I am not a big fan of painting chassis I prefer to powder coat or anodized if I am going to run the car. But I am painting a graphite chassis now and I think the key is to make sure you prime it well and wet sand it several times before final paint. Or the aluminum chassis I would go with some automotive primer and paint. And most important, take you time doing it.

Hey miguel, do you have a thread up with some pics of the painted graphite? I'd like to see that project...

yeah, aluminum is always tough to paint, it doesn't like to stick.
bead or sandblasting will give a nice rough texture to cling to, as well as an etching primer. thin primer coat though.

Powder coating is not too cost prohibiting. If you are going to run it, consider doing it.
