TURBO OPTIMA MID SPECIAL RESTO...

I picked up this Turbo Optima Mid Special off a local online auction site for pretty cheap.
It was sound and mostly complete, but still a little rough around the edges.
I'm pretty sure this was originally sold as a complete kit, rather than one of the conversion kits.
The limit was two kits per store, which makes 'em pretty rare.
I stripped it,cleaned everything and rebuilt the shocks and both ball diffs.
A body, undertray and decal sheet from Marwan in Kuwait arrived pronto.
The car was missing the battery straps and the mounts for the undertray, which was a huge issue.
I was lucky enough to find one on the 'bay and now there seems to be a glut of 'em out there...go figure.
I *hate* the stock 8 hole rims these cars came with!
Found a set of regular Mid rims for $10...But some fool had painted them gold.
Apart from the gold paint issue, the rims were mint.
A little work with some acetone, detergent and bleach had them looking like new.
A close friend kindly donated a set of new front shocks and a set of new Bridgestone tyres.
Bummer the fronts are narrow and the rims I have on the car are wide,so if anyone wants to trade some new wide tyres for some new front skinnys, let me know!
Anyway...All done with bugger all funds and to keep me busy...If I don't keep busy, these days,I wind up back on the path to severe depression.
Here are some photos...Hope y'all like it.
