B4 top shaft in RC10 stealth trans

I think I read somewhere on here that someone had a B4 top shaft in a RC10 stealth trans, but maybe I miss read it. :?

Is this possible, and if so is this to help with added stress from brushless motors?

Does the B4 top shaft gear have the same pitch and teeth as the RC10s?

I'm assuming that if you used the top shaft that you would also us it's slipper, spur gear, etc?

Yes, you can use the B4 top shaft and slipper assembly with the RC10 stealth transmission. Several of us have made this modification.

When it comes to replacing the top shaft and slipper with RC10 B4 parts what are all of the parts that need replacement?
I see some sets available but I didn't know which parts exactly that i need.

Is it just the slipper hub?

Maybe an Avid Stock slipper set?

Those are two separate routes.
Both require replacing the stock V1 stealth top shaft with a B4/T4 top shaft. If you get an aftermarket one be sure you don't get one with a molded in spacer.

Then there is the triad slipper route. I decided to use the triad slipper because it was few dollars cheaper, but it locks you into the schell/avid spur gears. I have only done this route. Basically you get everything you need, besides the top shaft, in the Triad kit, although you need a small spacer

There is Associated the stock slipper route that works like the re-release. I have heard of 2 ways of doing this.
you need the b4/t4 topshaft. the inner and outer slipper hubs, an associated spur gear , slipper pads and slipper spring.
There is lots of info here under WOIN(what's old is new)

One I hear a LOT less about so I don't even know if it works and it uses the V1 top shaft.
You use the V1 top shaft, the v1 Inner slipper, an newer associated spur with slipper pad set, a b4/t4 OUTTEr slipper hub and the original slipper spring.
This is supposed to let you use most of the old stealth, but with a slipper that can handle more power than the original stealth.

Hopefully the available Nostalgic RC Carbon fiber Stealth Slipper pad negates some from having to do this mod and keep the OG topshaft.

Okay so it seems here you're just using the original top shaft but using the double slipper, spring, washer, pads, and the spur for the Worlds Car?
I would actually rather keep as much of the original gear yes, I just want it to be able to handle a bit more modern setup motor wise.
Currently I have a 17.5T Reedy Sonic an I'm waiting for the ESC to show up in the mail today.
Later I'd like to lower it to maybe a 13 Turn or so without burning it up.
I used to own one of these in the 90s. I don't race and I really like the truck.
Also owned an RC10T 2 at one point.
Since I kinda know the setup I don't mind keeping with that.
I ain't around to be a professional or anything.

Hobbywise I'll replace the dogbones for a CVD kit this week and then will hop it up one part at a time till it's all shiny and neat lookin'

I'm really happy with my custom works CVD kit.
You should try the stock slipper. I am running a 13t motor in my T2 with the stock slipper and it seems just fine for bashing. It should handle a 17.5 T with grace. I am curious to try the pads that KidAgain is selling.

Visited a local HobbyTown and got lucky and found the Disks, Slipper Pads, Spring, Nut, and Spur for RC10b4.
Waiting on Ebay shipping now for the B4 Top Shaft. We'll see.

Updated the ESC and Motor Today though, and added four titanium Parts.
Gradually building up. That 17.5 with the 10BL 120 ESC screams compared to the old days.

Keep in mind that over all steel parts are stronger than titanium. Titanium is stronger than aluminum.

Yeahhhhp saw that when i went back to review the instructions.

Thank you for your input!
This has all been a great help.
I got some MIP dogbones in the mail today and polished them and added those as well.
Still waiting on a front arm to get back to it to test drive but it's super smooth and quiet.

Will probably try the same on my next project RC10GT Electric conversion.
I know I have to save or shim the top shaft a bit depending on which one I use.
