Originally intended as a donor car to enable me to finish my old racer, I'm inspired to make this car into it's own build/restoration. I couldn't come to see a decent early Edinger loose identity when parted to bits.

I'll see what I can use once it arrives. I'm curious to see if there are still 6 gears in the tranny, or it is just full of boiled nylon.
Here's what I have with the fat trimmed away...

Nice thick Edinger lexan is in good shape, better yet the trim job was a good one...and I can practically take the paint off with my fingernail,

Here's the kicker though, as I suspected...that Havoc was wreaking just that on the gears. Note the metal bits broken from the hexed side of the spindle and the damaged teeth. The thing wobbles a bit and you can actually see scars on most of the gears where the metal chips ran 'tween the teeth. Yes it is a C clip version and it's runs were numbered with that setup that was in it

Here's a hint as to where I think I want to try to go with this car. I found inspiration from a set of front tires and a couple old Kyosho ball ends...

 Show me your post and I'll back off...maybe  Don't worry SCR8P, mine will only be "inspired by", 'cause I like to take some creative variations.... like the color  I promise to change the color for sure! YOU can have the original color scheme, how 'bout that?

nope, no thread yet. it was gonna be a "shock and awe" kind of build.

i was just bustin' your chops. with how long it takes me to build a car, and different ideas that i think up, it'll probably never be built anyway. so have at it. :)

This was a nice score. I was looking at it.
Please let me know how you will get the paint off that THICK lexan body.
I have one painted and want to remove the paint and start fresh.

It takes me longer I think... We can coordinate and both finish together for double the shock and awe? Thanks, I appreciate the chop busting. There's a funny old thread I read by the DrRobotnik fella where he was obsessing over colors. Me, I can't even paint anything box-art orange if my life depended on it, so this should be fun to try.

Seriously, it obviously wasn't lexan paint because it's all chippy with very little flex or adhesion for that matter. I'm just going try mechanical means, including my fingernails and stay away from the fuel and other chemicals at first. If you have lexan paint, it'll be a whole different ball game.

That looks like it'll make a good, solid car. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

First mechanically scrubbing/scratching with fingernails and a kitchen scour pad got me here..

and then this stuff...

Note it works exactly as advertised, but multiple coats and patience helps. Who knows if it's as easy on lexan paint applied to a heavily sanded inside- this I did not have.

But now I have this...(note the crinkled up paint peals in the upper left..)

Got some work done on this. I had the parts to fix the gears, stripped the shocks and fitted the parts I do have handy. I still need to get the additional spring hardware, but ths is a start. Also cleaned up the tires, and figured out the three colors I'll use on the body, in addition to the black and white....

No, the colours are a mystery, black and white photo from the manual!

Great, I love the b&w photo!
