834B runner project - questions

Hi guys,
Just got a Yokomo 834B that I intend to prep for a runner and I have some questions.
Firstly, is there any easy way to run modern 2.2" tires on this? I've done some reading and it seems a set of 870 rims might be the way to go but would the offset create problems?
Secondly, I'm wondering if there's anywhere I can get repro shells for this - I'm looking for a RPS and Funco shell and after reading through the forums I gather Mr Lexan makes these but he seems very busy of late and hasn't responded. Is there any other source to look for bodies?
Lastly, any guys with 834B runners? Any pics or advice to share?
Always wanted one of these when I was a kid - awesome to finally pick up one of these!

Mr. Lex will show up eventually, otherwise he's the man for those bodies. The 870 wheels bolt directly up to the 834b and if you look in the Yokomo section you'll find one or more of our members still runs and even races them. 59burst still runs them in South Korea for sure so check out some of his posts.

I tried few wheels and tires.
870C 2" front wheels with tamiya #53059 tires were not bad at all. didn't try rear wheels with the tires. so, I'm not sure they will fit or not. this setup worked much better than expected.
yoke 9mm deep offset 2.2" (30 series) wheels work great with modern tires. you can put 870C thick wheel hubs on the rear axles to get wide thread also. even I tried to switch the front oneway hubs for wide setup
you can see my recent setup here

Thanks for the replies guys.
These 9mm deep offset 2.2" wheels - were they for the 870C?
I'm guessing the YZ10 wheels have the wrong offset to mount up?
I've gotta try to organize a vintage run like the one in your thread - just so awesome... was it run with a 2WD and a 4WD class? Any particular rules?

stock 870C wheels were 2.0" and they have right offset for 834B too
see bottom of the page

and the deep offset 2.2" wheels were for RC10 as far as I know. also there were zc-825 ROAR (2.1 or 2.15) wheels with 12mm offset. they fit 834B too.
and the wheels in this thread are ROAR size

Does anyone have a set of front and rear 870C wheels they could measure up?
Had a contact online who's willing to look into producing a run of wheel sets but I don't have anything more than the stock yellow 834B wheels.
Perhaps if I gave him some accurate measurements he might be willing to run with those without an actual sample.
Anyway thanks to tiger1 from this board I got my hands on some bodies for my 834B (woohoo!) and the rebuild can begin. Will post some pics along the way.
