My old RC10L Graphite

Found this site looking for some pictures. I'll mainly be here for the offroad part of the site but I thought some of you on road guys might like whats been sitting on my shelf for what seems like forever. I bought this new I think in '98 or so. I wanted to get into road racing but it never really hit me. It does have an aftermarket shock and some blue screws I had leftover from other kits but it is pretty much box stock as new as it was 12 years ago.

Any ways onto a few pictures.

What's the Ti-rod from the top pod plate to the cross brace for? I would think it will make the car undrivable.

Stops the axle from twisting? Either that or it allows you to adjust it. I've noticed the newer pan cars have them on either side.

Some have shocks some have something similar to the above.

New Speedmerchant cars. Taken from eBay

The only form of R/C I ever raced were pan cars (RC10L) but that was before all this fancy stuff.

The above pic shows damper tubes. Just another way of dampening roll. The op's 10L, the tie rod virtually eliminates roll. Associated also made roll stop inserts for the top pod plate that go in between the the damper disks to limit roll.

It looks like an RC10L2 with a TRC shock and TRC shock mount

just a later year RC10L. looking at pictures the L2 looks to have a much narrower chassis

I raced one of those back in the day. I did not know anyone was into pan cars these days. No scene around here, it's all touring car. I love the simplicity of pan cars.

i wish i could say i raced back in the day. there has been almost zero R/C racing where i live since ive been into it. i drive two hours one way just to compete with my R/C crawlers. quite a pain sometimes

not a lot of options here either. i was big in late 80's and early 90's when you could throw a dart and hit an offroad or onroad track. the golden era of RC perhaps.
