ok most uf us now the cars, the parts and when it all was released but what about the history behind the cars. i posted a few questions about the fiero a few months back on monster traxxas but nobody ever posted a reply so i thought i might ask here.
who were the designers? the original factory racers? ya know the meat of the racing pedigree.
whats the real story behind the wildcat, ive heard like 3 different stories and theorys but whats the truth?
was traxxas originaly pro-trax? who decided the traxxas gtp would have a fiero body.
what were the magazines of the day saying about this future rc mega-company?
i wasnt even alive when most of there first cars came out and even then i wasnt even into rc till '99 so dont remember let alone know any of these things.
please help me educate my sorry self

team traxxas......... dumbing down the r/c hobby since the first RTR kit.
that's how i look at their history. but others might have a different view.

I have always viewed traxxas as a second rate company. it wasn't until they had a hit with the T-maxx until they really took off.

They are owned by Mattel right? Maybe not, but this link will help. They are the RTR kings. For people who can't build their own cars.

Hope that didn't sound harsh... I am glad they make front tires for my RC10.

They may be all rtr, but have gotten a ton of people started in rc and the cars can be made competitive racers.

I for one would also like to learn a little more about traxxas than what's on their site (thanks for the history link though).
It's a pitty the tread with input from scott montgomery (team-driver designer?) died such an early and unsatisfactory dead.

It always seemed to me that the TRX-1 was a strong representation for their first race car. The car did well from as far as I could tell, with a few simple upgrades I thought it to be a very strong 2WD racer.
After the TRX-3 I think things went the other way.

Isn't/wasn't the revo a real killer for it's competition too? Anyway, I think it was a fair question to get more info so let's concentrate on that point further

....and can be purchased at Pepboys, so who needs to have a lhs? Go to nearest atuoparts store and purchase a preassemled traxxis rc vehicle, what could be easier, what would be more fun?

I blame traxxas less for the RT craze than the dumbing down of america in general and dwindling popularity....after the trx1/3/tcp, there just wasn't enough interest in RC for as many companies that existed.....there were tons of companies and cars/trucks and that all dwindled down to the biggest and most popular still remaining competitive. Traxxas hit on a price/simplicity formula that carries through today.
the same thing happened for the most part in the full size auto industry. Now mr gasket is this huge conglomerate of all the old school names in hot rodding, and the obscure companies are either gone or a former shell of a good business....
I know traxxas was a huge boat company, and flirted with the cars with the cat and all that stuff you already know. never heard too much of the behind the scenes stuff.....

The end of the good part of traxxas was the trx3/tcp. They were competition up til then. They kinda rebuilt that back up with slash/revo comebacks but I've got my monster trucks and don't really want any more so the revo hasn't been of too much interest to me. The slash 4x4 is something I wanted to get for my daughter to help her driving but the sc10 that we call hers she can drive better than me so that kinda went by the wayside

. There was an article of traxxas history from an outside source that got a little bit into the traxxas history but that was lost with my last computer. If I run across it again I'll drop a link in here for ya srtracer. It was interesting reading...even for a diehard associated fan
