Hello all I am new to the forums and pretty much a newbie at rc stuff. I recently purchased a Reedy Brushless SC450 BL esc with a 540R 6100kv brushless motor and a 9.6V Li-FE 40C 3400 mah battery. I put it in my RC10 goldpan CE with a stealth tranny. I am also using an old Futaba MagnuM JR 75mhz controller. When I tried it out I get alot of hesitation and stuttering on acceleration and the car doesn't move that fast. I calibrated the esc correctly and all wires are away from the battery. When I accelerate with the tires off the ground there is no problems, the tires spin so fast they donut. Is the engine battery combo to much for my old stealth tranny? Or do i need to change my gear ratio? I have a 82t spur gear and a 20t pinion on. The esc and engine get alittle warm after running it for a few minutes but not extremly hot. I dont want to cause any damage to the esc or the engine. I'm not to familiar with this stuff and can use any help. Thanks so much as I try to learn more.

Did you check your diff and clutch?
That does sound like it might be very hot combo for the old stealth, I have heard of melting and stripping gears in it.
I was thinking of the reedy 3300kv on 3cell lipo might be harsh in my stealth 2.25.
You may have to play with the gearing, but watch your temps. very close. IMO, a temp gun is a good investment.

sounds like radio interference. Had the same problem running a traxxas brushless setup in my gold pan. Switched to another reciever and crystal and fixed the issue.

You'll hear that it's cogging because it's sensorless(I believe), but the problem probably comes from the battery. A 9.6 40c battery should be plenty to avoid such a problem, but what brand is it? My guess is that you need either a better LiFe battery, a good lipo or a really good NiMh. Just my analysis though...

Try a different receiver or radio. I had a similar problem when I installed my brushless system.

I have the same set up, but the 4900kv motor. The 6100 is going to be WAY to much in that tub. Be very careful. Try a different receiver and chrystal is a good option. I use the Towere 224 2.4 for my cars. Inexpensive, and works great. No interference

Same thing was happening to my XX with my MMP system and my old AM radio. Switched it over to an FM system and it runs perfect now.

I bought that same radio to fix my problem. Very happy with it.

I use it on the 870c and Project X. Just an FYI, at full speed with the 4900 from a stop, the gold pan WILL wheelie. I'm using a 5400MaH 7.4v LiPo battery. Shaved the back Allen screws to a point that I had to use pliers to get them out. Crazy fast. 6100 is going to be absurd.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I really appreciate it. Today I bought a Airtronics 2.4ghz MX3 sport controller and I am still getting the same problem. So I am down to either a battery problem or a tranny/ gear problem. the battery I am using is made by Hobby People. Is there an easy way I can diagnose a transmision problem without having to take it apart? The car still seems to run fine when it is off the ground. Instead of spending almost $500 in the past week trying to upgrade the goldpan I could have bought a new RTR. LOL. The next step is to take it to my local Hobby People and see if they can help me out.

I had the same problem with my Yokomo in the beginning, and did the same thing you are doing. Check the differential first. Make sure everything is tightened appropriately.

If the speedy has some kind of power setting eg launch control or timing or summin turn it down to soft setting and try again, i have losi excelorin 6800 setup and didn't matter which lipos i used or gearing or radio it was just sucking to much power so everything set low and all good. I know bashers first instinct is to go for high kv motors but much better off with more mild setup especially for racing.

Yes it's nice and tight. When I hold on to one wheel and the spur the other wheel won't move so I think it's ok.

The controller is set at a soft setting. Does anyone have any experience with "cogging" issues? I wold hate to think there is something wrong with my ESC.
