Chuck Kimbrough R.I.P. 07-08-10

Post by littleVETTE »

I know it's a little late but i thought i would let you guys know that chuck kimbrough has passed. if anyone is anyone in the rc world you knew who he was and what a great pressence he was for the hobby.

i wasn't aware of the situation til jay kimbrough brought it to my attention. i have been trying to contact jay for months. he finally brought it to my attention that he had been taking care of his pop from an accident he had at the beach. while walking to grab some leisure time wathcing rc gliders. he had fallen on his face and everything seemed fine, but things suddenly turned for the worse. you could read jay's interpretation of it here...

without chuck and jay the hobby wouldn't be what it is. seriously. these guys were there from rc's hayday to now. remember the awesome servo savers? i do, i still use them.

i'm bummed because i didn't know, and i have been trying to contact jay with repeated emails. after that email from jay it was like a punch to the gut. i didn't know chuck personally but i know he was a great guy to be around (from all the stories i've heard from people he has helped). he also gave us jay, who has been a true creating force over at kimbrough products.

:(

Chuck was truly one of the pioneers of RC cars. From servo savers to 64 pitch gears, Kimbrough mfg. was always one of the top names. I remember Chuck from my first visits down to SoCal around 1979. Chuck was always there racing at Briggs Cunningham raceway, helping run the races, racing, and helping fellow racers.

R.I.P. Chuck

Vette, thanks for letting me know. I emailed Jay directly. Although I never had the honor of meeting Chuck, I know well of the wonderful man he was. He is truly one of the founding fathers of r/c and he will be greatly missed.

This is very sad,all the years of being in the hobby I always loved their products and a great company to deal with. My prayers go out to the family and all involved. :(
