I tried using the standard flat top screws, but they are too short. So I used two short Truck nose plate screws but there is a lot of "slop". What is the proper way to mount these?

Thanks in advance,
James

What length standard flat top screw are you talking about? The standard steering ones worked ok for me.

The standard gold screws that are used throughout the car.
Are those the stock steering screws you have? I didn't even think to check to see if the stock steering screws were longer  all the set-ups I have are after market. I think I got a roller in storage with the old servo saver set-up. I'll see if those screws work. If not, what’s the part number for the longer screws and do they still make them :? ?

thanks for your help,
James

Yes, they are the standard steering post screws which are almost twice as long as the rest of the greenish/gold screws that are used on the rest of the bottom of the car.

8-32 x 7/8"

Run the 8-32 screw up thru the chassis holes like normal. I then screw the white sleeve onto the 8-32 screw. Now the screw is held tight to the chassis. Now place the steering bell cranks with bearings on the white sleeves. They should fit tight. Top off with nylon nuts to hold the bell cranks down. I call this houge style.

There is an alternate way to screw the white sleeve on from the top. I call this Worlds style. You can also screw the white sleeve on from the top after placing the bell cranks and bearing on the 8-32 screws. This way gets the bell cranks closer/lower to the chassis.

The 8-32 by 7/8 screws are part number 6281

thanks for all the help guys, I got it installed (correctly) last night
I didn't realize until now that there are two sleeves. What size bearing is used with the smaller sleeves?

Most use the same bearings as the rear hub carries on the rearend of the rc10 buggy they should be flanged bearings, not sure the size but all pancars have them too.I swiped out most of mine lol.Don

I just measured the ones on my ultra-molded 10T and thats what these are..
It uses the same style sleeves for the bell cranks. Just taller..

Thanks for the info on the bearings. I looked at my steering a while back and I think I got 4 sleeves all the same size. I just don't see how the bearings would fit with the sleeves I have... :?

I have this same kit for a buggy. Upon closer inspection of it, I too have (4) of the same size sleeves. Turning them down is not the fix to install bearings. They are already at 1/4" and there would be no material left if you made them any smaller.. Its the bellcranks themselves that would have to be opened up to fit the 3/8" outer diameter of the bearing. I don't feel like "experimenting" on mine to find out though....
