Very nice!!! I love the Rocky and Turbo Rocky. IMO, it's such an underrated platform and particularly in Turbo form, there's nothing "entry level" about it.

What are the chassis differences between early and later Rockys?

I know it was intended to be more entry level vs. the Optima/Javelin, but when I first drove my Rocky I was shocked how well it performed. To me, it can easily hold its own vs. the Optima and seems more durable. There may be more plastic and it's a cheaper grade, but the Rocky takes a beating much better than the Optima can, particularly on the front end.

The Turbo Rocky really takes it up a notch, IMO. It, hands down, runs and handles better than my chain drive Turbo Optimas. Kyosho shorted the wheelbase vs. the Rocky and that, plus the mid-motor layout, makes the Turbo Rocky turn so quickly. It's a shame Kyosho never officially exported the Turbo to the US.

Thanks for the differences info; I'll have to look into it. I have four Rockys, so I need to do some comparing .

The first mod I made to my Rocky was two shocks in the front and Kyosho golds all around; that made a huge difference.

As for the Turbo Rocky availability, I may have a nice runner for sale this Fall. I'll list it here before I resort to eBay.

I have always found the look of the box art Rocky infectious . I remember the adverts back in the earliest of the magaizines i used to buy with the car traveling at speed. Man this car looked like a weapon.

Some day I'd like to add one of these to my collection.

what beside the plastic chassis . anything chain drive is special nice rocky brother.

I was thinking the other day that we should make a list of all the chain drive cars just for the heck of it.

I agree. I'd also like to see those images from the advert back in the day. Anybody got some pics?

Magnum??? did you mean Maxxum FF?
Interesting to see you metnion the prgogress though.
How did Kyosho place that? I'd guess it goes between the optima and rocky.
But clearly they had indeed too many models in a too narrow segment at that time.
