For those who build kits without intent to run them, do you usually build and bleed the shocks as carefully as if they were to be racers, or keep the shocks dry to avoid the possibility of leakage?
I know it is unlikely that a freshly built shock that just sits there will leak, just curious what everyone else does.
besides, it's kinda quiet around here.

i build mine as if i was gonna race the car. i remember some guys saying they use the associated green slime inside the shocks on their shelfers.

I've gotta agree with scr8p, even if its gonna be a shelfer, build it as if you were gonna race it

The "Green Slime" was only used on the o-rings, back in the day for racing, something about it protected the rings, or so they said.

Unless you KNOW the shocks are going to leak (like original Delta golds), I always put oil in them.

I use Green Slime on ALL of my shock assemblies—race cars or not.

oops........... ya. that what i meant to say. i guess i should have worded it different.

i just use a generous amount of green slime on the o-rings and the piston and leave the shocks otherwise dry on my shelf queens. even if the shock is completely rebuilt with fresh stuff i dont put oil in them anymore.

sometimes i dont rebuild the shocks and just slime them. sometimes i dont even slime them. THE HORROR!!!

Build em up with a bit of oil in them, work them alittle, then drain out the bulk just leaving the residual to keep them from weathering...... I don't run my stuff anyway.

Well, hmmm. i say fill um, with oil and just buy the extra o-rings in case they leak... But really the oil should not go bad or anything while in the shocks so I say fill um up. That way you are covered with proper damping if a shelf queen falls off the shelf, ya know what I mean?

I used to use gleen slime to fix all kinds of stuff, lubricate squeaky hinges, fix the noisy gearbox, And in my younger years proceed to smear on someone at the track and say- "Well bud, no tissues around here for my gigantic boogers...sorry dude".....
