Here is my Curtis Husting checkered paint scheme replica as seen on the cover of the original RC10 manual. I still have to paint the wing and the driver and install decals. This paint scheme was NOT easy! I have about 18 hours in it so far.

That looks sweet. The checkers look good.

I like that a lot. It reminds me of a checkerboard vans shoe for some reason

Nice I entirely respect the effort, know exactly what goes into it! Finally made some more progress on my car this week as well.

Liqiud mask or tape on the checker board? I have no problem painting the stripes and body with tape but the checker board might be a problem . Just one more thing. Great paint job!!!

Thank you sir. It is all hand cut with blue 3M painters tape. Took several hours just to "weed" out all of the checkers. The wing is now painted and I will post some pictures soon.

Updated photos with wing. Waiting for some more decals to arrive and to paint the driver.

This is Curtis Husting. I see you painted a body just like my old body. That is awesome! Great job!
I did get the idea of the checkers from my old Vans shoes..but with a little twist. I actually painted my Vans shoes with yellow, orange and red paint to match my body as well. Sounds pretty dumb now but it was cool back in the day.
I can appreciated all your hard work. I know it took me forever to paint it as well. I remember having to pull off all the black and white checker pieces. It took forever. I think I screwed up on just one piece. I wish I still had that body. I had it in the counter at the Factory and someone wanted to buy it. I didn't really want to sell it but he made an offer I couldn't refuse. The body got stolen from the guy about two weeks later out of his car. the body is still missing.
I also had a roll bar and window netting if I remember right. I hand made the window netting and roll bar. That took a while also.
It is an honor that you choose to paint this body.
