whe i got out of rc 17 years ago i sold all my cars and tools.
so now i'm using my "real car tools" and well as you all know they are a real p.i.t.a. to use on rc's.
i'm about to put a new chassis on my b4 and don't want to use what i've been using.
can any suggest a decent tool set (hex drivers) that won't break the bank?
i dynamite ok? i really don't want to spend 60 bux on 5 fancy pants drivers.

bondhus make great ball drivers, they are available in alot of places.
I just picked up a few from mcmaster carr, searching under 'ball driver', they are very reasonable priced. I didn't look to see if they where bondhus or not, but they have a nice yellow and black molding, and the handle sizes are appropriate for the hex size(hard to strip out).
I can snap a pic for you if you want.....gimme till tonight....

The bondhus ones will work for a little while, but the will round off fairly quick with regular use.
I have the Thunder Tiger tools, $25 for 4 hex wrenches, decent quality. They are just now starting to need new tips after almost 3 years of regular use. My brother has the red aluminum handled Dynamite tools and they are very nice as well.

I have several of the black dynamite wrenches, they're just fine. No problems. I can recommend them.

If your looking for other small but quality stuff besides allen tools, maybe this will be of use. I used to live down the street from this place, but didn't know it at the time. I have yet to try them out, but...

Which ever tool set you get, be sure to get handles where you can replace the tips. Then when you become *uncheap* you can buy really expensive tips, or just good inexpensive ones, your choice

Penny wise, pound foolish! Don't be cheap!

You will end up spending more for replacing stripped hardware and worn out tools! Spend the $60.00 ONCE

and get these!

Just as a heads up, I replaced all my allen screws in my X-Factory (converted B4) with T-10 torx. It's a Kinwald tip on the XF site. For the past year and a half I haven't stripped a single screw and I am using the same Craftsman torx screwdriver that I stole from my dads tool box (so its old) which hasn't worn either.
I bought every size and shape screw & nut I needed in bulk from McMaster. I spent $90, but now I have whats left of each box of 100 to replace screws in other cars as needed.

the bondhus ones I bought cost me a grand total of about 10 bucks. that's with buying 2 3/32" ball drivers.
once the balls go bad, a simple dremel tool makes as many new tips as I can grind flat.
OR....for $60.00, I can buy the set again 5 times over...and those aren't ball drivers. granted, that set has a couple more sizes I don't have or need, BUT, still, call it 3-4 times over what I paid.
just sayin'......
there's never a good time to be pennywise pound foolish, but there is a time to realize when something is wayyyy overpriced.
