BEER! What's your favorite?

I'm a sucker for a great beer. I like the macro/craft brewery stuff, and my buds think I am a beer snob. Well, I am.

Tonight I am drinking a great offering from Cisco Brewers on Nantucket island, MA. It's called Pumple Drumkin. A great spiced pumpkin ale.

I'm a big fan of Imperial IPAs, IPAs and any double ale. Siera Nevada's Torpedo IPA is a fave, as well as Troeg's Nugget Nectar, Rouge's Yellow Snow IPA, and a handful of other IPAs.

To me, fall is the best time of the year for beer. Octoberfests & pumpkin beers are just delicious.

I do not include Sam Adams as a macro/craft brew as an FYI.

A close friend of mine is the safety director at the AB brewery here in NH, and believe it or not, the beer he brings me (pre pasturized pre canned) is frigen un believable. If all of AB's stuff tasted like that, I would buy more.

What's your favorite?

Amen. While most beers are awesome ice cold, some are even better around 43*f, and room temp. For instance, if you ever get the chance, or they sell Fat Tire in your area, buy a 6 pack. Put 3 in the fridge, and leave three out. Alternate between cold and room. I find the room temp Fat Tires kick the crap out of a cold one....

This is a bit funny, but since coming to the US and falling in "love" with Texas - I drink Lone Star.

But my all time favorite is Hasen Brau (Rabbits Brew) From Augsburg Germany where I come from.

I have not been able to find it here in the US. If anyone should happen upon some, I would say give it a try.

My local haunt may have it. They have a CRAZY selection of goodies from across the pond, I'll see if they have some tomorrow.

That would be awesome : I might have to import some from your way should they have some :)

I'm a HUGE fan of beer trading.......

I'll look for ya. A little taste of home goes a LONG way.

When I lived on Grand Isle, LA (now famous becase of the oil spill) there was a bar on the island, now closed because of Katrina, that would special order Magic Hat for me. Loved that place. Was called The Gulfview Lounge. Was opened 24x7. Would watch the sun rise there sometimes.

In fact, not to get off topic but:

I was stationed there in the CG in the late 90's. I got a part time job working there as a bar tender. I always got the afternoon shift, and it was usually house wives that didn't have cable, so they would go to the bar to watch the soap operas, and they would just drink water. I got paid $25 for a 4 hour shift, plus tips, and could drink whatever.

People would come in off the oil rigs and say "awe, it's the damn yankee".....

But the beer was cheaper there than the other bars on the island, so they would stay. I would walk out with $25 + $3.50 in tips and a great buzz on....

I don't do macroswill, I stick with craft brew or micro. I also brew my own, so ...

For micros I like Firestone's DBA, Fat Tire, or Sierra Nevada PA. When going to breweries I like whatever is caramelly and malty - you can keep the hops and bitterness.

I like porters, scotch ales, and pales, pretty much anything malty will suit me fine.

I like amber beers. I completely despise lite beer as it's basically for alcoholics. Sorry to the lite beer fans. A few of my faves though I also agree that I'll take pretty most beer as long as it's cold.

Dos Equis Amber
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Killians Irish Red
Worsteiner Dunkle
Tecate
Sam Adams Cherry Wheat
Kreik Lambic Cherry
Negro Modelo

I like Capital Brewery here in Madison. Miabock and Supper Club are my current favs.

Also like the Winter Skal and the Dark.

Do not care for the Fire.

Amber is good too.

But at $8 a 6pack I go with Coors Light often, I'm off Budweiser since Jr went to Hendrick and my wasit lost 2" by moving to light.

Some people around here like the Spotted Cow beer but not me. It's cloudy corn beer.

21st amendment watermelon wheat
I'm not a big fan of flavored beers, or american style wheats for that matter, but this one is incredible on a hot day. Just a hint of watermelon, not sweat or "syrupy" at all which is usually how I feel about flavored wheats.

since we're talking German, There's a couple German resturants I frequent in San Francisco. I honestly don't think there's a meal and beer pairing I appreciate more than Jager schnitzle with spatzle served with a Schlenkerla Rauchbier!
